The Iraq War

Introduction

The 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq was a watershed moment in American history.  American leaders alienated the international community with its insistence on the invasion, under dubious pretexts.  While American forces achieved stunning battlefield successes and toppled Saddam Hussein's regime, a lingering insurgency and widespread misery left the project a grim reminder of the limits of American power.
