REVOLUTION (from Merriam-Webster Dictionary)

a: a sudden, radical, or complete change

b: a fundamental change in political organization

especially: the overthrow or renunciation of one government or ruler and the substitution of another by the governed

The American Revolution is just one example of a political revolution. Throughout history there have been many other notable revolutions that have upended and replaced political powers. While revolutions may share a few common characteristics, many differ due to the age in which it happened, where it took place, and who participated in it. You will be researching another revolution in your groups of no more than THREE (or on your own if you prefer), and creating a presentation of 12-15 slides. THIS WILL BE WORTH A PROJECT GRADE. 

Task: For this assignment, your task is to research the details and causes of another revolution. To do this you will begin by selecting a revolution listed below:

• French Revolution- started 1789

• Haitian Revolution- started 1791 

• Cuban Revolution- started 1953 

• Mexican Revolution- started 1910 

• Russian Revolution- started 1917 

• German Revolution of 1918-19 

• Chinese Revolution of 1949 

• Chinese Revolution of 1911

• Iranian Revolution of 1977-1979

Content:  Your research project must include the following things (using as least 3 sources):

1. Causes - What were the specific trends or events that led up to the revolution. Be sure to include long-term and short-term causes if applicable.  ______/ 10 point

2. Timeline of events - What were important events of the revolution? When and where did these events take place? _____/10 points

3. Major Players - Who were the major individuals or groups involved in the revolution? Who were the leaders of the revolution? Who revolted and who was overthrown? _____/10 points

4. Outcomes - What was achieved as a result of the revolution? Was it a success or a failure? What was accomplished? How many deaths were there? ______/10 points

5. Role of news media (Did the country have a free press? How was information dispersed to citizens? How was awareness of the cause spread to gain support?) ______/10 points

6. Visuals - Incorporate multimedia (ie. videos, pictures, charts, animations) to enhance the presentation of your research assignment (at least 5). Ensure that these are relevant and beneficial to your final product. _______/10
