Introduction

The struggle for equality has been a long struggle in American history.  The gay rights movement is no different, gaining victories and suffering defeats throughout the years.  After World War II, the movement began to gain stream and by the 1960s, it was fighting alongside the Civil Rights Movement to win equality under the law.
