Today, the whole-school celebrated and marked the European Day of Languages. Today has been all about celebrating Europe’s rich linguistic and cultural diversity and encouraging lifelong language learning. This year’s theme,“Languages open hearts and minds,”reminds us how languages connect people, spark new ideas, and open up new perspectives. On Monday, I led a whole-school assembly to kick-off this year's celebration, and it was wonderful to see so many of the pupils of all different ages, being so proud to share some of the language that they speak at home with their families. I know the pupils across Jupiter have been doing all sorts of language learning across the day, trying different languages and also finding out more about each other the languages we can also speak. We have such a rich and diverse number of languages spoken at Jupiter both in pupils, parents/carers and in the staff! Did you know I also speak German, and that Miss. Leavitt also speaks French and Mrs. Canina speaks Spanish? I am really keen to widen the pupils’ appreciation for languages and different cultures, and learning even a little bit of a different language can open so many doors.
Yesterday, I sent our some important communication about the establishment of a Parent Forum group, to support the ongoing communication and partnership between school and our families. Please do take a read, and I hope that we can have a representative from each class to meet with myself and the leaders regularly to provide feedback on a range of whole-school issues.
Finally, I wanted to share with you that over the last few days we have been interviewing potential candidates for the new Headteacher at Jupiter. Unfortunately, despite our extensive process of recruitment, we have not felt able to make a permanent appointment at this time. Whilst this may be disappointing to hear, I want to assure you the trust and I are committed to getting the right leader to take Jupiter forwards on its journey, and it is important that we take the time we need to do this. We will be re-advertising the post in the coming days, and will continue to keep you updated with any developments over the coming weeks. I will continue to be in post as Interim Headteacher, as previously communicated to ensure continuity for Jupiter and the community
Have a great weekend, and see you on Monday.
