Wow what a week! We have really been getting into the Christmas spirit and school has certainly been full of colour and sparkles.

On Monday, KS1 and 2 started the week with an assembly that included some very thoughtful input from our Year Six children who helped us explore how kindness in our play can have a huge impact. We looked at how our actions can create ripples that spread - so choosing kindness spreads kindness which is far better than spreading anger and frustration! Thank you to Ambra, Freddie, Charlie, Ethan and Emma who were involved in helping.

Our Reception classes treated us to wonderful performances of their nativity this week. Well done to all of the children involved - you were amazing. Also, a huge thanks to all of the staff and families for your hard work supporting the children.

On Wednesday the children and staff enjoyed a wonderful Christmas Lunch together and had so much fun. The festivities continued with carols on the MUGA on Friday. Thank you to everyone who came to support this event, despite the switch of date due to the rain. I hope you enjoyed it.

It has certainly been a wonderful way to end the term and I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and very Happy New Year! We look forward to continuing to work in partnership with you in 2026.

This week in Reception

The children in Reception tried so hard with their Nativity performance this week, we are so proud of them. Thank you to all of you who were able to attend, we hope it put you in the festive spirit!

We have still been working hard creating our own Christmas themed stories and making some repeated pattern Christmas lights with finger prints. Thank you so much for the cards, gifts and well wishes. It has been a fantastic start to the year and we look forward to welcoming you back in January.

This week in Year 1

In Year 1 this week, we have been recapping key skills within Maths. This has included number bonds and finding one more and one less than a given number. In English, we have been continuing to develop our writing skills. We have continued to work on including adjectives within our writing. We have also been applying phonics knowledge to support the writing of our sentences. We have enjoyed completing some Christmas themed pieces of art. We hope all of our families have a lovely break.

This week in Year 2

What a wonderful week it has been in Year 2! The children have enjoyed their literacy where we have been writing letters to Santa and creating descriptions of a winter scene. In Maths, we have consolidated our learning on 3D shape and the children are now much more confident with identifying and describing the shapes. The children looked marvelous in their Christmas jumpers and enjoyed a fantastic Christmas dinner. We want to thank you for your support this year as well as your gifts, cards and well wishes. Have a lovely Christmas break and see you in the new year.

This week in Year 3

What a week for Year 3! 🌲 From the excitement of building dens and gathering around the fire at our final Forest School session, to exploring the art of personification in our English setting descriptions, the children have been incredibly busy.

We also had a blast celebrating Christmas Jumper Day and sharing a delicious Christmas dinner together! 🎄✨ Wishing all our families a fabulous festive break. See you in the New Year!

This week in Year 4

In Year 4 this week, we edited and published our independent write before beginning our ‘cold’ write to prepare us for our next English topic of Setting and Atmosphere.

We continued to recap our Maths this week, focusing on factor pairs.

Finally, we have been enjoying completing some fun Christmas arts and crafts in preparation for the holidays. Thank you for all of your support over the last term! Wishing you a wonderful festive break!

This week in Year 5

It has been a wonderful week in Year 5! Inspired by the work of Kit Wright, the students showcased their creativity by writing their own poems, with many focusing on the magic of Christmas. In Mathematics, we continued our recap of fractions, specifically mastering how to subtract mixed number fractions. Alongside our hard work, we’ve enjoyed creating festive crafts in preparation for the holidays. Wishing everyone a lovely break and a very Happy New Year!

This week in Year 6

It has been an action-packed final week for Year 6, blending heart and hard work to finish the term on a high note. We began on Monday by exploring kindness in PSHE, with every child making a personal pledge to help others.

The creativity continued on Wednesday as we applied our new skills in perspective drawing from our recent art lessons to create some truly impressive Christmas card designs. By Thursday, our focus shifted back to PSHE as we presented our research on Paralympians. Take a look at our photo showing Thierry and Owen, who showed great courage and confidence sharing their slides in front of the whole class.

We wish all of the children and their families a wonderful Christmas and a restful New Year. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to the classroom this January!

One Impossible Thing - Sports Shoe Network

One Impossible Thing are running a Christmas Holiday Pop In Session, where children can try on and choose a free pair of pre-loved trainers or football boots.

This Pop Up Session will be held on Friday 2nd January between 10am and 12pm in the green container next to Grovehill Adventure Playground (opposite the Asda Garage on Redbourn Road). The attached flyer contains all details.
