It has been another busy week at Jupiter to round off a wonderful term. We had our Year Six residential trip at Cuffley Outdoor Activity Centre from Monday - Wednesday. The children and staff had an amazing time although we were all rather tired by the time that we got back to school! Residential trips are such a memorable experience and it was wonderful to see the children tackle the activities with passion, resilience and perseverance. Thank you to the staff team who made this trip possible.

On Wednesday Year Three participated in a Multi Sports event at Adeyfield School and showed off their incredible skills, playing against other local schools. Thank you to the team and all of the parent volunteers that helped make this trip possible.

We continued to explore our Jupiter Choice initiative in our whole school assembly. This week we looked at the skill of ignore it.

Yesterday we celebrated our Science Day in school. It was amazing to see so many exciting experiments taking place. The children and staff all had excellent fun, learning and experiencing new things.

I wish you all a Happy Easter and I hope you all have a wonderful break. I look forward to seeing you all when we return to school on the 14th April.

This week in Reception

This week in Reception we have finished writing our story, ‘The Sleepy Fox’. The children have tried so hard with their letter formation and to try to keep their writing within the guidelines. Well done! We also had a busy Science Day where we asked lots of questions and investigated sinking and floating. The children found out how important Science is for future jobs, such as vets, doctors or even geologists!

In Maths, we have worked hard on subitising amounts and link=ing this to doubles, using a tens frame to support or understanding.

Remember we have the class trip after Easter so please ensure you have given consent for your child to come if you would like them to attend.

There have been lots of questions regarding Phonics, Tapestry and day-to-day experiences. With this in mind, I have arranged a ‘Reception Parents Surgery’ event on Friday 17th April at 2.45pm. This will be in The Lodge. I will hold a short Phonics talk first and then there will be an opportunity to ask any questions you have.

This week in Year 1

We have concluded our non fiction writing by making our own information texts about dragons. In maths we have been multiplying by counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s. We had a lovely Thursday taking part in lots of different science experiments. Our particular favourite was seeing the rainbow made by skittles as they dissolve in warm water.

We hope you have a lovely restful couple of weeks off and look forward to sunny days on the field on your return.

This week in Year 2

This week in Year Two we have continued our maths learning about measurement by measuring capacity of containers and volume of their contents. The children have got to grips with using litres and millilitres really well so test their skills if you do any baking this holiday! In literacy, we have been researching our class animals -owls and puffins - and writing non-fiction reports to show why our class animal is the best! Everyone really threw themselves into Science Day and the pupils made some fantastic habitats-in-a-shoebox, thank you for your help in collecting these. Finally, in art we made some texture rubbings in our sketchbooks to explore textured patterns from our playground. We hope you all have a wonderful break and look forward to hearing about all your adventures when we return!

This week in Year 3

This week in Year Three we completed some science experiments for science day. The children mix water and food colouring and spent some time learning about water movement and how it travels. On Wednesday the children took part in an Eggstravaganza sports event at Adeyfield school where they made Jupiter proud showing great determination and resilience, even in the hailstones! We would like to say a big thank you to all our parent volunteers on our trips this term, we couldn’t do it without you! In maths we have been learning about mass in Kg and g.

This week in Year 4

This week in Year Four we completed another experiment for Science Day! This time, we looked at what would happen to the state of gummy bears when placed in water, salt water and sugar water. The children are excited to come back and see the results!

We also completed our independent ‘hot’ write to conclude our recount topic in English. The children wrote some amazingly detailed diary entries inspired by the events that take place in ‘The Tunnel.’

Finally, we have completed a number of fun Easter/Spring activities as the week comes to a close.

We wish everyone a fun and restful break and look forward to seeing everyone refreshed for the Summer Term.

This week in Year 5

This week in Year Five we have continued our literacy discussion texts. In maths this week, we began our learning perimeter, students showed lots of resilience. Science day was a huge success, students learnt about asexual reproduction of plants, and we propagated some mint as a class. We also made ‘Ooblek’ which was great fun!

This week in Year Six was easily our most jam-packed yet as Year 6 truly levelled up! Whether conquering fears and forging new friendships at Cuffley Activity Centre or showcasing creativity back at school with clay modeling and baking, every child has flourished.

We are incredibly proud of the resilience shown in the great outdoors and the teamwork displayed during our "home-based" treats and crafts. From scaling heights to baking back at school it has been a joy to watch your confidence grow.

Keeping Your Children Safe Online What Parents Need to Know About Tiktok

This week we are sharing a new parent guide about Tiktok, as your children may be asking you about it at home. Each guide contains the age restrictions and other really helpful information that parents need to know.

Tiktok is 13+, therefore no primary age children should be having access to it.

Please note the red sections on the guide that clearly explain the risks to children and the blue advice sections for parents.
