The end of February is now upon us and at last we have had a week with some sunshine!

A highlight this week was welcoming Sean Rose, a Paralympian, into school.  His story was inspirational and we learned so much about aspiration and resilience.  Keep an eye out for Sean in the upcoming winter Paralympics when he will be commentating.  A huge thank you to everyone who has helped raise money as part of this event, your support is very much appreciated.  We will let you know the total raised as soon as we can. Any final donations can be made until Tuesday 3rd March. Remember, even the smallest amount will earn a sheet of stickers, with other incentives for reaching various amounts. Please note that the non-uniform day was separate to this and donations made for this will not qualify for the stickers etc.

We would also like to thank everyone who supported our book fair recently.  As well as buying some wonderful books for yourself, you have also enabled us to raise £337 to spend on books for our school library - thank you so much for your support.

We continued to explore our new Jupiter Choices initiative in our whole school assembly earlier this week, looking at being confident to say no when someone is acting in a way that is hurting or annoying us.  As well as what to do if someone asks us to stop.  It is so wonderful to see the children growing in confidence at being a part of resolving issues in the playground.

Our parent forum had an excellent meeting yesterday and it was great to hear so many thoughts and ideas as we continue to work in partnership.  If you are interested to join this forum, please speak to the school office.

Did you know that we are a phone free school?  You may have seen the signs that are displayed within the school grounds to show this.  That means that phones should not be used by children or adults within our school grounds at the start and end of the day.  I am sure you will have seen recent coverage in the news about children and the effects of smartphone use, and I am sure that you will want to support us as we seek to re-establish this expectation from next week.  Please ensure that you and your children all have phones safely stored out of sight on school grounds.  This will help us to be more aware of those around us and avoid distractions and unhelpful risks.  Any of the Year Five and Six children who bring phones into school must ensure these are kept out of sight at all times when on the school grounds aside from when they are being handed in at the start of the day or collected at home-time.

We are looking forward to our World Book day celebrations next week.  A reminder that our dressing up day is on Tuesday when children can come dressed as their favourite book character or wearing their pyjamas.  We are looking forward to the festivities!

I hope you all have a great weekend and I look forward to seeing you next week.
