Weekly Directions:
Watch: The 7 secrets of the greatest speakers in history.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0a61wFaF8A
Do: Create an outline in the form of notes / note cards for your speech.
*You may also want to search up some of the full speeches featured in the video and watch them for a better idea of what a good speech looks like.
Submit: A copy of your outline / speech notes. You may share them as an image or as a text file. You should include notations for body language, volume cues, etc.
Weekly Directions:
Do: Practice your speech presentation using the notes you created last week.
Submit: A video file of your speech. It must be 3 minutes in length.
*Most of you will choose to simply record yourself giving your speech. You must wear appropriate speech attire, have good body language and eye contact, and use your speech voice. Don't worry about trying to record the perfect speech. If we were in the classroom, you could only have ONE "do over." It's okay if you stumble or make a mistake or two; just don't let that trip you up! If you can convince siblings or guardians to sit in as your audience to make your speech more authentic, even better!
*Because we are stuck at home, if you would prefer to create a "digital speech" using presentation software, you can! I only ask that you create something using voice overs with you actually narrating. If you have good ideas/questions/suggestions about this option, reach out!
Please submit your file to me by Friday at 3:00 please!
Weekly Directions:
For this week:
Continue: 1) Working on vocabulary.com past lists if needed. 2) Submitting speeches or scheduling a meet with me to give your speech live.
New: TASK ONE: I've assigned you 2 new lists in vocabulary.com. Romeo and Juliet Acts I and II. This week, you'll need to reach 100% mastery and 100% progress for both lists.
TASK TWO: I would also like you to read the prologue for Act I of Romeo and Juliet, and translate it into extra modern English! Shakespeare wrote in modern English, but the style is certainly different from what we are used to. Please write out, line for line, an extra modern version in words anyone could easily understand.
You will submit your translation to me in Google classwork.
Below is the link for the prologue.
