Attention: This site is no longer active and will not be used for NTI 2.0. A new platform is being built and will be shared soon.
Please begin by filling out the Backpack Presentation Check-In that is located in Google Classroom. This should help remind you of where you were in the backpack process, and it will help me figure out where you are and what you need. Please submit this assignment once you are finished.
After submitting the Backpack Presentation Check-In, please finish up anything you need to do for your backpack. That might be...
1) Filling out the "Explaining Your Artifact" sheets (These were the colorful sheets we were filling out in class. They are now in Classroom if you are missing any of them.)
2) Working on/finishing your slides
3) Letting me know if you are finished with your slides. I will be happy to look through them and leave comments for you.
Please finish all backpack-related assignments. Depending on where you are, that might be...
1) Finishing the "Explaining Your Artifacts" sheets. These were once the colorful sheets we used in class. They can now be found in Google Classroom. You only need to fill out any that you are missing. Please submit once you are finished.
2) Finishing the slides for your presentation. Instructions are labeled "Backpack Slides" in Classroom.
3) Messaging me to let me know when you are finished. I will look over your slides and provide feedback. Please make your final changes and then submit.
4) Review the options on the Senior Backpack Defense Choice Board. I will be in touch shortly with directions on how to indicate the option of your choice.
*If you have any questions while you are working, please do not hesitate to email me, message me through Classroom, or message me on Remind. I know this is not the ideal way to finish backpacks, but I really appreciate all of the effort I am seeing!
We will start Backpack Defense Presentations on Tuesday of this week. Please finish up anything you need for your presentation on Monday. If you are still working on your slides, please let me know when they are finished and I will read over them and give you some feedback. After you make your changes, you need to submit/turn in for a grade. Sign up for your presentation using the "Backpack Presentation Option Sign Up" in Classroom. If you sign up for a Google Meet presentation, I will contact you about scheduling the day and time. I can't wait to see and hear all of these presentations!
Finishing your backpack is your first priority. If you are missing any backpack-related assignments, please take care of those as soon as possible. ("Explaining Your Artifacts" and your backpack slides should be finished by now, but go on and finish if you need to do so.) If you have not let me know how you want to present your backpack, please let me know immediately. My goal is to get through as many presentations as possible this week.
The first assignment of our new (and last) unit is posted on Google Classroom. Please complete this short assignment called "Denotation and Connotation" by this Friday.
As always, let me know if you have any questions!
1. Finish your backpack! If you have not contacted me about your presentation, please make sure you do so as soon as possible. Remember -- backpack presentations are still a graduation requirement!
2. If you did not finish the Denotation and Connotation exercise from last week, please complete it in Google Classroom and turn it in. It should not take long at all.
3. This week's work is a web quest that will prepare you for reading a short story from the book Interpreter of Maladies. You MUST complete Section 6 and two other sections of your choice. (You may complete the others for extra credit.)
4. There is an additional assignment in Google Classroom titled Geraldo No Last Name. This is a (very) short story with a few comprehension questions and a short writing prompt. THIS ASSIGNMENT IS EXTRA CREDIT!
If you still owe me a mini research paper or a big research paper, I am happy to take it and add it to your grade. Don't forget to contact all of your teachers this week!
Backpacks are still your first priority. If you have not finished your backpack, you must do so as soon as possible.
Please complete any missing work from the past few weeks -- the denotation and connotation assignment and the web quest. ("Geraldo No Last Name" was for extra credit, but it can still be completed.)
This week's assignment is to begin the short story "Sexy" by Jhumpa Lahiri. Remember that we are discussing language, and that word and its use become especially important. The story is split into three sections, and you will have a short set of questions to answer for each section. The text and the audio are both in Classroom.
As always, let me know if you have any questions.
