Weekly Directions:
Welcome Back Brilliant Students!!!!
I hope you had a somewhat stress-free break. For the next few weeks we will be using a combination of Google Classroom, Study Island, and Vocabulary.com to continue learning. My Film Class (5th Period) will primarily be using Google Classroom. During this time you are still "in school" and you will have various assignments to complete along with quizzes, so I can measure your understanding of standards/skills.
Basic Suggestions for NTI Learning:
Log on at some point at least once a week to complete your assignments.
How you complete your assignments is completely up to you. For example, you can work on your assignments over multiple days or you can finish it all in one day if you wish. I want to give you flexibility so that you are able to complete your work for other classes as well!
If at any point you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please contact me in any of the following ways:
- Email: Please try to use your JCPS email. If you use a personal email it may not show up in the correct folder and your email may not be answered. I will respond mostly during normal daytime hours. My email address is danielle.gray@jefferson.kyschools.us
- Google Classroom: You can email me through the Google classroom or leave a comment on the assignment you have questions about. You can also comment to interact with your classmates in school-appropriate ways. I will respond mostly during normal daytime hours.
**5TH PERIOD FILM CLASS SCROLL DOWN**
For English 1:
Quick Note: I'm still grading some of your assignments, so bear with me. I am working on it. I promise, I haven't forgotten about you. Also, we've finished or mostly finished "Long Way Down," though it seems like forever ago now. Unfortunately, we didn't get to finish it together. I STRONGLY encourage you to do this in your own time later, once things get back to "normal." It's definitely an interesting read and worth your time. Now, since there's only so much we can do with this new style of educational learning, we are going to move into a new unit: argument writing.
Here's how it will work for us this week:
Click on the link below to Clever.
Log in to Google with your school email and your password
Once in the Clever page, click on the Study Island icon (look for the palm tree!)
In Study Island, find your English class and click on the week's assignment (NTI Learning Week 1)
**You have 2 Study Island topics this week: 1) Citing evidence and 2) Introducing/Closing Topics in Writing
** Your job is to score at least 70% on both topics!
TO SUBMIT: You don't have to do anything to submit it! I will run class reports and give you credit for the work you did!
I know learning in this way will be a bit of an adjustment, but I'm excited to help you learn in this format. Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help you during this time and I look forward to speaking with you soon!
For 5th Period Film Class:
Quick Note: Like my English 1 classes, I'm still in the grading process. Bear with me, please. I'm still adjusting. I promise, I haven't forgotten about you. This week, we're getting into our dystopian/science-fiction unit. With all of this craziness happening right now, I figured it would be a good way to think about the world using cinema.
Here's what you'll do:
Click on the "5th Period" tab on the top of the screen and it will take you directly to the 5th period Google Classroom page.
(or click on this link: https://classroom.google.com/u/0/c/NDA0Mzg1MTA4OTFa )
Go to the Classwork and look at the assignments under the Topic labeled: NTI Learning 4/6 - 4/10
Your Job: Watch the short films and complete the associated assignments connected with it.
TO SUBMIT: Click "Turn In" When you're done.
Feel free to send me any questions if you have issues. Best Wishes!
