Drawing Club - Jack and the Beanstalk
We listened to the traditional tale of Jack and the Beanstalk, linked to our learning about growing. As we are familiar with this story, we used our imagination to explore how the story might be extended. We worked hard to apply the sounds we have learnt in phonics to our own writing.

Drawing Club - Farmer Duck
We listened to the story of Farmer Duck by Martin Waddell. We enjoyed joining in with the animal noises as we retold the story.
In our writing we are focusing on writing as independently as we can. We need to remember to say our sentence aloud to ourselves before writing to check for sense and rehearse what we want to write. We are also consolidating our use of finger spaces between words and to begin our sentences with a capital letter.

King's Coronation
We found out about King Charles III and his coronation. We wrote information sentences about him using the information we found out. We are trying hard to rehearse our sentences before writing and remembering everything we know about writing a sentences. We were challenged to write two or three sentences, giving more information.

We journeyed to the past and watched an episode of The Pink Panther. We used this as a stimulus for our writing, using our imagination.
We are consolidating our knowledge of sentence writing, orally rehearsing before writing. We are also focusing on our letter formation, trying to form our letters correctly.

We listened to the story of Where the Wild Things are, where Max travels in a boat to where the wild things are.
When writing, we are now trying to add more descriptive detail in our sentences to make them more interesting. We are remembering to re-read what we have written to check it makes sense.

As part of our work on Sunflowers by Van Gogh. we developed our independence in writing to describe the painting. We used describing words to write about the colours and shapes.

We adventured to the past to an old cartoon called The Trapdoor. We watched the episode 'Breakfast time'.

Module 6
Drawing Club - The Town Mouse and The Country Mouse
We focused on the traditional story of The Town Mouse and Country Mouse . This also formed part of our inquiry this week in comparing town and country.
We have really pushed ourselves this week with our sentence writing, writing more than one sentence to describe a character, setting or event.

As part of our work on the seaside, we read the story of Tiddler.
We are developing our sentences to add more descriptive detail to our writing this week, thinking about size and colour adjectives. We are continuing to develop our independence in writing and our writing stamina.

Drawing Club - Handa's Surprise
As part of our work on Africa, we read Handa's Surprise. The story is about a little girl in Kenya who visits her friend with a basket of fruits. There is a surprise for both of them at the end of our story.

As part of our work on the Polar Regions we read the story Lost and Found. We really enjoyed the story of the penguin and the little boy. We described the character and the setting in the story.

We took an adventure into the past and watched an episode of The Magic Roundabout: Bubbles. We used our imagination to develop the story through our drawing and writing.

What can you see in the Rainforest?
We explored the rainforest and all the plants and animals that you would find there. We used the picture to write about what we could see and what we know. We were able to showcase how independent we are in our writing.
