Module 5
The Coronation
We celebrated the King's coronation. We looked at how the coronation will be celebrated, comparing this to the Queen's coronation in 1953. We looked at the similaries and differences between them. We looked at the different artefacts such as the sceptres, orbs and the coronation crown.

Comment on images of familiar situations in the past.
Compare and contrast characters from stories, including figures from the past.
We know that the king will travel in a gold carriage like his mum Queen Elizabeth II.
We found out that there will be a procession through London, just like there was for Queen Elizabeth's coronation over 70 years ago.
We know that King Charles III will hold the same orb and sceptres and wear the coronation crown. He will also wear his ceremony clothes for the occassion.
Module 6
Transport - Past and Present
We explored how different forms of transport and how they have changed. We read the stories The Train Ride and Oi! Get off my Train! We focused on trains for the adult led session, looking at the photos, we looked at the different features to identify if they are from the past or present and how they have changed. We then sorted the pictures

Seaside Holidays - Past and Present
In The Train Ride story, the little girl travelled to the seaside to visit her Grandma. We talked about our experiences of visiting the seaside and what we might see. We then explored seaside holidays in the past and the kind of activities people in the past used to do. We compared this to what we do now.

"They went into bathing machines to get changed into their swimming costumes. They rolled them into the sea and they got out straight into the sea."
"They didn't wear suncream like we do. They used umbellas instead for the sun."
"They wore different swimming costumes to us. They wore ones that covered all of their body."
Camera from the past
As part of our learning about seaside holidays we watched a video about Magic Grandad. In the video he used a box camera to take photos.
Some children decided to make their own box camera using junk model materials.
