Our Art focus this module is improving our painting skills and knowledge. We began by learning about Piet Mondrian and his use of primary colours in his artwork. We then used this knowledge to create our own, 'Mondrian inspired' artworks.
N.C Pupils should be taught: to use a range of materials creatively to design and make products to use drawing, painting and sculpture to develop and share their ideas, experiences and imagination to develop a wide range of art and design techniques in using colour, pattern, texture, line, shape, form and space about the work of a range of artists, craft makers and designers, describing the differences and similarities between different practices and disciplines, and making links to their own work.
In our second lesson, we experimented with colour mixing to create secondary colours and artwork inspired by Rotkko's 'colour fields'.
This week, we studied the works of Paul Klee and discussed how he used tints to create his abstract art. We used his, 'Separation in the Evening' artwork and our 'tint' knowledge to paint our own pieces.
This week we had lots of fun (and made lots of mess) creating drip paintings inspired by the works of Jackson Pollock. We learnt how to make different shades and then used the colours, we mixed, to create our artwork.
Next, we discussed artwork by the Delaunay's and their use of warm and cool colours. We then used our newly acquired knowledge to create our own 'warm and cool' pictures.
Finally, we used all the skills and knowledge we have learnt to create our own abstract art.
Our Art focus this module is improving our drawing skills and knowledge. We began by exploring drawing tools to make different marks.
In our second lesson, we began by drawing fruit using our imagination. We then looked closely at the fruit and felt it to find distinguishing marks and features so that we could complete observational drawings.
In our next lesson, we explored how different patterns could add texture to our drawings.
Our Art focus this module is improving our printing skills.
N.C. to develop a wide range of art and design techniques in using colour, pattern, texture, line, shape, form and space
We began by learning about different textures and surfaces and explored our classroom for objects to take rubbings from. We thought carefully about the best way told hold the crayon for the best effect.
In our next lesson we learnt about printing. We used a range of natural and man made objects to make prints with and used different methods for applying paint to our stamps.
In our fnal lesson we learnt about impressed printing. we took time to carefully carve our designs into foam board and carefully rolled paint onto into before pressing it onto our page.
This module we are learning about textiles. We have explored the techniques of weaving using paper, wool and sticks.
This module we have learnt about sculpting with different tools. We explored various British artists' work and creative techniques with sculpting. We made creative sculptures such as a clay hand, a pyramid out of elastic bands with spoons, sugar cube buildings and shapes out of marshmallows and sticks.
