In Science we have been learning about animals including humans. We have learnt about offspring and how animals either lay eggs or give birth. We conducted an investigation to see 'whether the older the person the bigger their feet'. We also enjoyed researching about animals and what they need to survive.
We have continued learning about animals including humans in this module. We have learnt the importance of good health, how to stop germs spreading and why it is important to have a balanced diet.
We enjoyed conducting an experiment showing how easy germs spread. We each put glitter onto our hands and then shook hands with our friends. We discovered that germs spread very quickly unless you wash your hands properly.
In Module 3 we have been exploring materials. We have sorted, classified and experimented with different materials. We have used our knowledge of materials to support our learning in D/T when making freestanding structures as well as our English lessons when we wrote a persuasive letter about a new invention.
This module we have learnt about plants. We can name the parts of a plant, understand the difference between seeds and bulbs, understand how seeds are dispersed and conducted an investigation to see what plants need to survive.
We also had a visit from a local farmer who taught about growing crops, types of different vegetables and the importance of buying local produce.
This module we have learnt about animals, their habitats and how they adapt to their environment. During our school trip we enjoyed a workshop where we felt real animal furs and had to decide which animal they were from and how they adapted to their environment.
Throughout this module we have been exploring a range of different scientists that have helped our world become a better place. We have been developing our working scientifically skills by taking part in some investigations, allowing us to explore and problem solve. We looked at how wind turbines were made and how they help with electricity, as well as Rachel Carson and why she was important. As well as this, we were lucky enough to be award our STEM engineer certificates. We did so well!
