This module, we are learning about technology in the world around us. In our first lesson, we looked around school for ways technology helps us every day. We then thought about how it helps us in the wider world.
N.C. Pupils should be taught to: use technology purposefully to create, organise, store, manipulate and retrieve digital content recognise common uses of information technology beyond school use technology safely and respectfully; identify where to go for help and support when they have concerns about content or contact on the internet or other online technologies.
In our next lesson, we looked at the different components of computers, Chromebook and iPads. We compared them and discussed their pros and cons. We really enjoyed this lesson as we began to practise using technology - solving picture puzzles using our drag and drop skills. We even had our first attempt at screen recording our learning and uploading it to Google Classroom.
This week, we developed our mouse skills by experimenting with different tools on the, Paintz' app to create a flower. We experimented with shapes, painting tools, the eraser and selecting different colours and thickness of the tools.
Next, we developed our mouse skills further by creating self portraits on Paintz. We also began to use the keyboard by labelling our pictures with our names and age.
The next week, we developed our skills further by learning how to open a document on google classroom and how to edit it. We then typed full sentences, using the keyboard and handed in our work.
This module, we are learning how to create digital paintings and media. We will be choosing appropriate tools in a program to create art, and making comparisons with working non - digitally.
In week one we explored free hand tools on a painting application and decided which would be best for us to create self portraits.
In week two we recapped our learning on Piet Mondrian and created digital art inspried by his abtract art. We then used lines, shapes and fill tools to create our own art work.
In week three, we made careful choices to create abstract art in the style of Henri Matisse. Some of use created our shapes using the digital paintbrush and others used the shape tool. We all used the fill tool to create block colours.
In week four, we choice different tools to create our artwork, inspired by Kandinsky. We then explained to each other why we had made those choices,
In this module we are learning how to group data.
N.C. use technology safely and respectfully, keeping personal information private; identify where to go for help and support when they have concerns about content or contact on the internet or other online technologies.
In our first lesson we learnt about labelling pictures and how this is used to create searches on the internet.
We then used labels to help us group and count object and looked at how this is used in everydy life. We realised that creating groups makes it easier to count
Next, we learnt how to describe objects by using their properties like; size, shape and colour.
Then we used our descriptions to group objects and had to think carefully about the properties of our groups.
Finally we compared and sorted groups. Miss Baker was really impressed by our developing Chromebook skills and abilty to label groups.
This term we also thought about our, 'online reputation' and thought carefully about what we should and shouldn't share online. We discussed who our trusted adults are, why we are careful about what we share online and how to speak to our trusted adults if we are unhappy about what we see online.
This module we are using moving robots and learning how to program them. Our first lessons have been focussed on learning about buttons, following and giving directions and the directions the robot can move. We then developed our skills by following and creating multiple routes for the bee bots to follow.
This module we have really got to grips with our Chromebooks and have been learning how to write digitally and how to upload photos. We have been utlising a range of keys on the keyboard to help us edit our work and have used tools in the toolbar to make our text more eyecatching. We then compared digtal and physical writing and explained which we liked best and why.
Making our designs a reality,
