This module we want to answer the question, ‘Who is a Christian and what do they believe?’ So we began by looking at core Christian beliefs.
In our second lesson, we learnt about, 'The Bible' and why it is important to Christians. We learnt about a Bible story (David and Goliath) and thought about the message it sent to Christians about God.
This week, we have been learning about Harvest and why it is special event for Christians. We then thought about what we are thankful for.
This week, we have been learning how and why Christians worship.
Next, we learnt about where Christians worship and their churches by watching a video which gave us a tour of a church. We were then able to identify and label the different features.
This module we are continuing our learning about Christians and their beliefs. In the first week, we explored Christian images of God and thought about how they expressed Christian beliefs about him.
Next, we listened to hymns and thought carefully about the lyrics. We found links to the Bible and what Christians believe.
Finally, we used everything we have learnt over the past two modules to answer the big question, 'Who are Christians and what to they believe in?'
This module we are beginning to learn about the Islam religion and what Muslims believe. We have been learning about Allah (PBUH), the Prophet Muhammad and have begun to think about simalarities and differences between Islamic and Christian beliefs.
This module we are continuing our learning about Islam. In our first lesson we learnt about ways Allah is represented and used calligraphy to write his name. In our next lesson, we looked at Islamic artefacts and deduced what they were used for based on our prior knowledge.
This module we have started learning about Judaism. In our first lesson we looked at Jewish beliefs about God and how it is similar to Christians. Throughout the module, we learnt about passover and why it is celebrated, Jewish artefacts, the mezuzah and why it is important. Lastly, we learnt about shabbat and the traditions alongside how it is celebrated by Jewish people.
Module 6
This module we continued learning about Judaism. In our first lesson we learnt about the importance of Sukkot and why it is celebrated. Then we looked at Hanukkah and Jewish traditions such as Hanukiah candles being lit during the festival and how they play a game called driedel. Lastly, we reviewed and compared how Christians, Muslims and Jewish people worship and celebrate their God.
