Lab Objective:
You will understand how to make cookie dough and shape it by hand.
Lab Goal:
You will make hand shaped cookies that are filled, sealed, and properly shaped.
While you are making your dough you will reflect on what you need to do to shape the cookies with the filling baked on the inside.
When your cookie is finished you will take a picture of the finished product with you in the picture.
After tasting cookie you will complete the Lab Reflection and upload your product picture to the Google Form.
Next, pick up one ball of dough and shape it into a cup shape in the palm of your hand.
Bring all of the edges up around the filling and prepare to enclose the filling completely inside.
Your cookie is ready for the oven!
First divide your dough into 12 equal pieces. Then roll each into a ball.
Add filling to the cup. Don't overfill or you won't be able to close the cookies properly.
Pinch the edges together being careful to keep all of the filling on the inside of the dough ball. Make sure that all of the edges are pinched securely so there are no leaks!
Follow the link to the recipe to see what you are making for this lab. Make sure you read the recipe the whole way through BEFORE you begin.
Now that you have finished your baking and you've tasted your product it is time to complete the Recipe Reflection and submit a pic of your product.
Go to Google Classroom and find the assignment for your lab. Complete the attached Recipe Reflection form and upload your pic (selfie) to the assignment. Make sure you submit it after you upload the pic!
Red Velvet products weren't always made with the tons of food coloring that we use nowadays. Originally there was another reason they were red. Can you find the answer?
If you find the answer to what makes red velvet red (other than food coloring) add it to this Padlet. Then check out what other students had to say.
