It has been a great start to the school year at RMS! Thank you to all staff, students and families for helping build a strong foundation to the school year.
It’s been a busy and exciting week here at Riverview!
CTF Options: Our Junior High students are diving into their CTF classes, exploring everything from Band and Art to Stop Motion and Foods. Meanwhile, our Grade 5/6 students are staying active and engaged with athletics, foods, and outdoor education.
Science in Action: Grade 9 Science students took their learning outdoors this week, exploring natural selection through hands-on lab activities in the field.
Athletics: Raider athletics are off to a great start! Volleyball, Jr. High golf, and cross country are in full swing, with our Golf Tournament happening next Thursday in Wetaskiwin. A huge shout-out to our amazing staff for volunteering their time to coach and support our student athletes.
Leadership: Our Leadership students are hard at work planning and promoting the upcoming Terry Fox Walk on September 26. We’re excited to come together as a school community for this important cause.
🔔 Reminder: There is no school next Friday, September 19, as it is a Professional Development Day for staff.

As we move into a new year we are looking forward to continued collaboration between the school and our parent community! We would love to have you attend a meeting and get to know you!
Verification forms are now available on your Power School portal.
Why Verification Forms Matter:
Each year, it’s important for parents and guardians to update their child’s information in the PowerSchool portal. Completing these verification forms ensures that:
The school can reach you quickly in case of an emergency.
Health and medical information is accurate and up to date.
Custody and pick-up details are respected.
You receive important school updates and communications.
Records such as addresses and demographics support accurate programming and transportation.
Thank you for taking a few minutes to update your child’s information—it helps us keep your child safe, supported, and connected.
Hot lunch ordering will open on September 5-19.

While we have indoor recess days in the colder months, we also monitor the Air Quality during others. This past week brought in some smoke from the neighboring areas. Black Gold's Inclement Weather and Outdoor Air Quality Administrative Procedure can be found here.
When the Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) value reaches 6 or greater, all strenuous outdoor activities are to be cancelled.
When the AQHI value reaches 7 or greater students are to be kept indoors, with the windows closed and HVAC systems running.; this includes all PE and Recess
Should you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to the office.

Over the course of the year, we will begin practicing our Emergency Response protocols. All schools across the Black Gold School Division participate in the same protocols and it is important that we practice these throughout the year so our school community is ready to respond should we need to. More information can be located in the brochure attached or by clicking here.
Don't forget to subscribe to the RMS Google Calendar in order to stay up to date on upcoming events. You can subscribe through this LINK.

Congratulations to Kalen in Grade 6 for returning his summer reading log. He enjoyed reading all summer and by tracking the books he read he won a couple of books, comic, bookmarks and erasers. Way to go Kalen!
Grades 5 to 8 have regularly scheduled classes and will be bringing home a book or two to read. Any student at any time can also sign on to the Black Gold School Division page, go to the "Engaging Students" tab , then click on Destiny Discovery. They use their school email and password to get into the online Library. There is a wide selection of Ebooks and Audiobooks that students can access from home.
We will be hosting a Book Fair in October. Follow for exciting new books!!
