Orange Shirt Day and National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Today, we acknowledge Orange Shirt Day, a powerful reminder of the lasting impact of the residential school system on Indigenous communities. It’s a day to reflect on the resilience of survivors and to honor the children who were taken. As we approach the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Monday, we encourage our school community to take time to listen, learn, and engage in meaningful conversations about our shared history and the path towards healing and reconciliation. Let us commit to understanding the truths of the past so we can contribute to a better future together.

Little Caesars Pizza - Home Kits!

RMS is selling Little Caesar's home kits! These are great for those 'quick meal' nights or pizza nights with the family. Don't forget...there is CRAZY BREAD and COOKIE DOUGH too!

Hot Lunch Volunteers - We need you!

Hot lunch is starting again next month, and the RMS Fundraising Committee needs your help! Please consider signing up to help hand out lunches on hot lunch days. Click the link here to view the signup page.

School Verification Forms

It is so important the school and Division have correct information on file in our student records. It is available NOW on your parent portal. All families are required to complete a Correction and Verification Form for each student by November 30, 2024.

Completing the form is easy and takes only a few minutes. Simply, review the form and each of its sections, make revisions where required, and then select “Submit” for school office staff to review. Even if you don’t have any changes to make, when you “Submit,” the Division has a record that you’ve reviewed the data, and we know we still have the most up-to-date information on file for your child.

Step 1: Visit https://powerschool.blackgold.ca/public
Step 2: Login using your Parent Access Account.
Step 3: From the left-hand menu select “Student Enrollment Verification”.
Step 4: Confirm the information is correct for each of your children registered with Black Gold School Division.
Step 5: Repeat steps 1-4 for every one of your children registered within Black Gold School Division.

Do you have your orange shirt on? Sure saw lots of them today. I've added a poster in Community Events that I wanted to highlight today. In Leduc, there is an adolescent anxiety workshop running. May be of interest to some. Check it out below!

We wanted to take a moment and thank Devon FCSS and the Devon Chamber of Commerce for sponsoring a presentation for us in early October. Tyler Smith is coming to town, and will be making presentations to ALL junior and senior high students in Devon. This will be happening on October 9th at the Devon Community Hall, so please check Powerschool for the permission form. The support of our community partners is so valued, and we thank them for giving this opportunity to us! Check below for more details about Tyler.

All schools across the Black Gold School Division participate in the same protocols and it is important that we practice these throughout the year so our school community is ready to respond should we need to.
