Step 1: Read sections 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3 of chapter 3 (right)

Step 4: Create a diagram of the coastal ocean floor and oceanic zones

Assignment #3: Tide Pool in a Bottle Model
Step 1: Complete the pre-model questions
Bring in a milk jug, plastic container, soda bottle or shoe box (you want a water proof container) for your model. (If you do not have one, be sure to ask your partner if they have one.)
Step 2: Add rocks to your diorama model (To help Ms. Burnett please bring in rocks if you can.)
Step 3: Add sand to the bottom of your diorama to coat the bottom at a depth between 1 and 2 inches.
Step 4: Take plastic animals or replicas you make and secure them to the rocks and sand with glue.
If you have a shoe box for a diorama complete the diorama drawing and post model questions.
Step 5: Pour water into a tide pool diorama housed in a waterproof container. Gently pour enough water to cover the sand at a depth of two inches to signify high tide.
Step 6: Simulate high and low tide by slowly tipping your diorama to the side.
Step 7: Create your diorama/drawing and label.
Step 8: Answer Post model questions.

Step 4: Identify the location of shallow and deep waves in the photo (use google drawing to edit the photo and add to your poster).
Step 5: In a short essay, describe the deep and shallow waves in the image and justify your answers using the following questions:
