Classroom Rules

• No sleeping in class.
• Cell phones/electronics must be kept in your bag, or in the cell phone rack hanging in the classroom.
  • Cell phones/electronics will be confiscated if they are out in class.
• Remain seated during lectures, classroom announcements and some activities.
  • Labs, projects are hands-on learning, so moving around is acceptable during these times.
• Ms. Burnett doesn't need to know if you are plugging in your chromebook.
  • If you unplug something (a plug without a label), please plug it back in!
• If you need to use the restroom, Ask Ms. Burnett first, when she acknowledges you (Ok, sure, be quick, etc.) you should go.
  • One person in the restroom at a time.

Late Work and Exams!

• Prior arrangements need to be made 24 hours BEFORE the due date to turn in an assignment without penalties.
• Late work will be accepted until two week after the due date.
  • The end of the term is TOO LATE to make up work.
• Points will be taken off of the assignment for being late.
  • 1 pt if assignment is turned in within one week of the due date.
  • 2 pts if assignment is turned in within two week of the due date.
• Exams are meant to challenge your thinking and show your synthesis and application of skills and knowledge.
  • There will be questions that you may not have been asked before. For these questions, you should do your best to answer the questions using information you know.
• Retakes are at the discretion of the teacher (Communicate with the teacher).

What to do when you're absent:

• We did important work while you were out!
• YOU are RESPONSIBLE for the work you missed.
• YOU need to make arrangements to make up quizzes and tests missed.
• Options for getting information when you are absent:
  • Sending a formal email
  • Remind message
  • Ask a friend/ classmate

Work Completed at HOME!

• Each chapter has a lecture. Lectures are not fun to sit through, so the following expectations will be in place so the hands-on, experiences happen during class.
  • LECTURES ARE TO BE READ AND REVIEW PRIOR TO CLASS.
  • Some class time will be set aside for questions about the lecture.
    • Lectures are the background information to better understand the activities and labs.
• Weekly Journals: Each week you will complete a nature journal
• Journals will be assessed on every Friday of the week.
• Tests are announced on the Syllabus
  • A study guide for the test can be provided to the teacher (handwritten or typed) to receive extra credit on the test.
• For each chapter, Assignment #1 will be due four days prior to the test.
• Any work not completed in class will become homework! (Expected due date is on Classroom)

Assignment Expectations:

• All written work is to have the students' name on the document.
  • How does Ms. Burnett know the item turned in is yours?
  • If Ms. Burnett were to print out your assignment, how is she going to know it's yours?
• You claim responsibility for your work when you put your name on it!
  • Be proud of what you have accomplished!
• Collaboration: During group work the students within the group are responsible to share the work responsibilities for the project. This includes and does not limited to:
  • Written work
  • Physical models and products
  • Proper Care of all work (written and physical products)
  • Contribution of ideas
  • Expectations from group members (work at home, bringing in materials, presentations, etc.)
