Study Questions
Directions: Read and take notes on the the following sections: 20.5, 20.6, 20.7, 20.8, 20.9, 20.10, 20.11, 20.12, 20.13 and 20.14. Answer the questions.
** A class discussion will follow this assignment.

Step 1: For homework, you will research offshore wind and ask 15 questions. In addition, you should answer your questions.
Step 2: Individually, you will design an offshore windmill.
- Two rough drafts for a design (materials needed, dimensions, etc.)
- One final draft drawing of your proposed windmill.
Step 3: With a partner, you will combine your designs.
- Combined drawing will need to be made.
Step 4: With your partner, you will build your windmill using the materials you are provided.
- You are able to bring in three (3) materials each from home to use in your model.
Step 5: You will test your model using a fan and a sink full of water.
- Test will include the following:
- 2 minutes in water (remaining upright in the water)
- 1 minute of fan low speed (does your windmill spin?)
- 1 minute of fan high speed (does your windmill spin?)
Step 6: You will write a three paragraph reflection about your windmill project.
- Suggested questions to answered:
- What did your windmill model look like?
- How well did your windmill model work?
- What would you have changed about your design?
- What challenges did you face while creating your windmill model?
