Answer the following questions about Invasive and Endangered Species:
1. What is an invasive species?
2. What is an endangered species?
3. What determines if a species is endangered or invasive?
4. How are invasive species introduced?
5. How do invasive species change the ecology of an environment?
6. How do endangered species become endangered?
7. How are endangered species classified?
8. Provide examples (5 each) of invasive and endangered species in the marine environment.
9. How are population sizes determined in an environment?
10. Describe biotic and abiotic factors within an ecosystem.
Answer the following questions with a partner:
Create an information poster about the Endangered Species Act.
In a presentation include the following information:
Species Choices: (Each gets a different species, no repeating)
- You may choose your endangered species, before selecting your species for your presentation, you need to search the Red list (first link provided) to make sure the organism you choose is on the list. Before you begin working on the research for this organism you need to private message me to get your species approved.
Analyze the effects of an invasive species on their non-native environment.
1. Select a species and post a class comment with your common name (no repeats!)
2. Research the biology of the species (include the common and scientific name)
3. Research the path of introduction
4. Research the effect on the non-native environment
5. Research population management strategies for your species
Create a poster or presentation on your invasive species to be presented in class
Part A:
In a document record information about conservation, population management and introduction methods for invasive and endangered species, using the endangered and invasive species mini-presentations.
** Provide methods with explanations, efficiency, and examples for all methods described.
Part B:
Describe five characteristics of invasive and endangered species. Explain how this relates to your examples.
