Orquesta Miguel Caló c. Raúl Berón 1942-06-30

Music: Miguel Caló

Lyrics: Osmar Maderna

"What do you care if I cried over you" [Literal Translation]

Let me dupe myself that you will return

That you'll be back like times past,

With the yesterdays of our dreams.

Let me wait for you, nothing more!

Since I understand what to expect,

It is just a crumb of our history.

I know that this pain is the pain of understanding

That cannot be, that hope that drowns me.

Let me cry, always cry,

And remember you and wait

But understand that you won't come.

What do you care if I cried over you

What do you care that you lie to me,

If it has been destroyed, my castle of yesterday

Let me make a shrine with the ruins

What do you care what I suffer

What do you care what I cry

If it can not be that illusion of yesterday

Just leave me so, crying over our love.

What do you care what I suffer

What do you care what I cry

If it can not be that illusion of yesterday

Just leave me so, crying over our love.

Notes

This is the only song with an available recording with lyrics by Miguel Calóś pianist Osmar Maderna.

The music is credited as being by Caló but I suspect that young Maderna did most of the work. Just like having a paper published as a young academic and your professor takes the lead credit.

Maderna's lyrical orchestral romanticism made a profound and lasting impact on Calo's style. And that let to the lyrical romanticism of others - Maderna himself and Roggero with Simbolo Maderna but also Salamanca, Sassone, Basso and even changed Troilo's style.
