"Lluvia de Abril"
Orquesta Tipica Miguel Caló c. Raúl Iriarte
Recorded on 1945-2-20
Music: Enrique Francini
amor, amor,
que acaso me olvidó.
Y en esta soledad,
sin ti grité
después, tu nombre en vano.
La lluvia de un abril
trajo tus manos.
la lluvia de abril,
una palabra.
la sombra de tu voz,
igual que una canción,
fue grito de dolor
en mi esperanza.
Tristeza del ayer,
dolor fatal,
fatal como el adiós.
La lluvia de un abril
trajo tus manos.
la lluvia de abril,
una palabra.
la sombra de tu voz,
igual que una canción,
fue grito de dolor
en mi esperanza.
Tristeza del ayer,
dolor fatal,
fatal como el adiós.
The rains of April
was the lullaby of a song,
that saw the night with a girl deep in love.
So feeble was the moon, I dreamed you,
that my pain in shadows, perhaps I was hoping for you.
How little was dreaming in your hands an illusion,
if after the rains a day has been lost.
You'll never come back,
love, love,
perhaps I've been forgotten
And in this loneliness,
without you I cried
afterwards, your name in vain.
The rains of April
brought your hands.
the April rain,
a word.
the shadow of your voice,
just like a song,
was scream of pain
to my hope
Sadness of yesterday
fatal pain,
fatal as in "goodbye".
The rains of April
brought your hands.
the April rain,
a word.
the shadow of your voice,
just like a song,
was a scream of pain
to my hope
Sadness of yesterday
fatal pain,
fatal as in "goodbye".
Notes
I heard this song while watching a wonderful performance to it in London last Friday.
The song is quite poetic and confusing. Slightly different interpretations and translations could be made. But more or less I am happy with it.
