All Time Off is to be requested for via BambooHR. In BambooHR you'll see which Time Off types that applies for you, depending on employment and other factors. In Finland you are entitled to 5 weeks of vacation per year. Here you earn your holiday in much the same way as you earn your wage. Everyone is entitled to a paid vacation of usually two and a half weekdays (Saturdays but not Sundays included) for each month of service. Every calendar month with at least 14 days or, in some cases, 35 hours worked is counted. For this purpose, also days of absence due to sickness, lay-offs etc. are regarded as working days. You also earn vacation days during your first months of parental leave. Don’t forget that you need to take your paid vacation days before you take unpaid leave.
You accrues annual holiday days as follows:
2 days per month if you work at least 14 days or 35 hours per calendar month and the employment relationship has lasted less than a year, or
2.5 days per month if you work at least 14 days or 35 hours per calendar month and the employment relationship has lasted more than a year.to most collective agreements, entitled to a vacation bonus.
The annual vacation shall normally be given as one continuous period during the holiday period of 2 May through 30 September. During this time, the employer have to offer at least two weeks in a row of vacation. However, the part of the vacation that exceeds four weeks may be given as a winter vacation. Within these it rests with the employer to determine, upon hearing the opinion of the employee, the time of the vacation. One of the exceptions to this main rule is that you as an employee has the right to save six days of his summer vacation to be used in later years. In addition to your normal wage which under the Act is payable before the time of the vacation, you are, according to most collective agreements, entitled to a vacation bonus.

After one month’s employment, you are entitled to sick pay during the first nine working days after the disability began. This is normally the period after which you begin to draw daily benefit under the compulsory sickness insurance. If the employment has lasted less than one month, you are entitled to one-half of you salary for the disability period. The right to sick pay is subject to the condition that the disability is not caused by yourself willfully or by gross negligence.
On day four you need to provide a doctor’s certificate that verifies your illness.

Maternity, paternity and parental leave is granted for the period to which the corresponding benefit, governed by the Sickness Insurance Act (1963, as amended), is deemed to relate. Thus, maternity leave normally begins 30 weekdays before the calculated date of confinement and lasts 105 weekdays. Paternity leave is granted for 6 to 12 weekdays in connection with the confinement and for another 6 days at a later time. Maternity leave is followed by a 158 weekdays’ parental leave, which can be used by the mother or the father according to their choice. According a reform plan, one month of the parental leave will be reserved for the father only.
In Finland FPA pays parental allowance. The allowances are usually calculated on the basis of earned income for the previous year. For more information, calculation and guidance, follow this link.

You as a parent will be able to take child care leave which begins after the parental leave and may last until the child reaches the age of three years. A child care benefit is payable for this period to families which choose not to place their child in municipal day care. Furthermore, the parents of small children have a right to a four days’ temporary child care leave in case of a sudden illness of the child, as well as a right to shortened working hours until the child goes to school (partial child care leave). Loosing a close one is of course hard. At a funeral of a close relative one day's paid leave is given when the funeral is in Finland on weekdays. One extra days paid leave is given for funerals abroad that requires travel on weekdays. Related parties include husband and wife, cohabitants, children, parents, siblings, grandparents.

We all know just how stressful moving into a new home can be, especially when moving day happens on a week day! As an employer we want to help you release that stress a bit by offer all permanent employed employees one day paid leave on moving day. This can be used once a year.

Are you getting married? If you are getting married on a week day EMG gives you the wedding day off as one day paid leave. This only applies for you who are permanently employed and if the wedding day is not in July. It is also possible to take unpaid leave days before the wedding day.

Study leave is granted to you with at least one year’s full-time service at EMG. The leave may be taken for general, vocational, professional, or trade union education and training. The maximum amount of study leave is two years in the course of five year’s service. No wages are paid during the time of the study leave.
The employer can deny this type of request if it is an obstacle to the employer properly planning the running of the enterprise. The employer has the right to postpone the time when the study leave is about to begin with a maximum of six months or, in the case of training that is repeated with longer intervals than six months, a maximum of until the following corresponding training opportunity is arranged. The employer has the right to postpone the study leave up to two times in a row. Talk to your closest manager or HR if you have questions regarding this.

Navigate to Home and click "Request Time Off" in the My Info widget.
Enter the date(s) of the time off request.
Select the Time Off type.
Enter the amount. The amount will default to the default number of hours per day or 1 day if you are tracking the time off type in days instead of hours. If a time off request is over a company holiday, the amount will automatically default to 0 for that day.
Enter a note regarding the request.
Future balance. This will show you what your balance will be for each time off type on the first day of your request. Click the calculator icon to change the date in order to see your future balances as of a different date.
Send your request for approval.
Updating or canceling a time off request can be done two different ways:
Navigate to the Time Off tab and hover over the future request in the Upcoming Time Off section. Click on the edit button that appears upon hover.
Navigate to the Time Off tab and select the type you'd like to show from the History. Notice that there are two parts to the history: Earned/Used and Requests. Be sure to click "Requests" in order to see the request history. Then click on the status link next to the request you'd like to update.
Once you are viewing the request details, you can change the date, type, amount, or note. Then click "Save." Or, you can click "Cancel Request" if you no longer need to take the time off.
Good to know:
In order for a manager to update/cancel a request, it must be approved first.
As an employee, you can always edit a request if it is in the future. If the request is in the present or past, an administrator will need to update the request on your behalf, so here you need to contact you HR Business Partner.
