We acknowledge the Traditional caretakers of the land where we create TGIF; the Awabakal people, and recognise their enduring connection to the land, seas and waterways which have always been places of community and culture.

Exhibitions
Exhibition week is coming up in Week 9, and this term the Advisors have created a new button called 'Before Exhibition' under the Exhibition button.
It has a number of excellent resources to help you; such as the Panel Pack Cover Sheet template, Panel Pack feedback form template, agenda, checklist and an Exhibition time guide!
Exhibition tips
Bring water with you!
Bringing water for yourselfย is a great help when presenting your exhibition.ย
Personally I have found that I get nervous during my exhibition and drinking water has helped me by having something to do which can help calm the nervousness. It also gives me a slight break, after I finished talking about something I might take a sip of water which during that small time helps me think of what next I should do during my exhibition. I also know some people that from all the talking in an exhibition get a dry mouth and them bringing water with them helps in that situation.
ย Check your technology!
What can make an Exhibition clunky, is having to stop halfway through and fix issues that could have been avoided. For me I find when it happens, I get embarrassed.ย
Some issues you might run into may be if you are on a personal or different account and your account with all your work hasn't given access permissions to what account you are presenting on. So a good idea is having a practice run of your exhibition also checking your work is accessible.
Physical evidence!
ย Most of students work is online; however some create physical things. It's good to bring something in rather than just having photos of it.ย

Newcastle Art Gallery
This week Cooks Hill Campus had the exciting opportunity to see the newly renovated Newcastle Art Gallery. The theme for this exhibition was Iconic Loved Unexpected. With over 500 works Newcastle Art Gallery has become the largest public art institude in NSW outside of Sydney. We were lucky enough to take at tour around by one of the lovely employees Kate, who educated us about the artists and origins of the pieces. Many of the pieces shown had textural elements and conveyed a wide variety of themes and mediums. This excursion allowed students to explore their creative sides and wind down before exhibitions.ย We would also like to acknowledge and thank Alison for making this outlearning opportunity possible and allowing us to have exciting chances to get up and out of the classroom.

Learning Through Internship interviews
Learning Through Internship at Ability Speech Therapy
Eva (Advisory 6)
Following on from last week's Learning Through Internship (LTI) interviews, we still have one very impressive LTI to celebrate-ย Eva, a student in Advisory 6, who is currently interning with Inspire Ability Speech Therapy in Warners Bay.
Eva engages in many learning activities and challenges at her LTI, including running activities with young children. These activities are designed by Eva using the skills and knowledge she has gained while at her placement. She programs each activity to target an individual goal for a child; ensuring that the service she offers is comprehensive and tailored to the unique needs of each child.
At her internship, she needs to maintain a calm and happy demeanour and uses skills such as making inferences, listening actively, and problem-solving, so that she is able to approach each child with professionalism and a readiness to learn while teaching. She ensures that every child feels heard and safe.
An example of an activity that she has run recently is an โI Spyโ game with one of the children, which targets a specific communication goal the child has.
This LTI has strengthened Eva's communication and problem-solving skills and has inspired her to look into a related career path after school.
Eva has expressed that she recommends every Cooks Hill Campus student take up an LTI that challenges them, just as her LTI challenges her.
Well done Eva. You are an incredible inspiration!
