We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land where we create TGIF: the Awabakal and Torres Straight Islander peoples who now reside in this area. We extend that respect to elders, past and present, and emerging cultural knowledge holders.

Harmony Week
During Harmony week we aim to celebrate everyone as equals and use our kindness for all, which can be linked to the 'Everyone Belongs' motto used this year in 2026. Striving for respect, a sense of belonging for all and to combat racial discrimination are key parts of harmony day each year.

Indigenous Perspectives
This week for journals, Advisory 6 made a series of infographics on their Indigenous Perspectives. The idea behind this journal was to not only spruce up the Hive but also enforce the importance of Indigenous Perspectives in Big Picture Learning. We hope to inspire other students to come up with creative ideas to incorporate an Indigenous Perspective into their projects.

Social Action Project Group: Aged Care.
This term, Cooks Hill Campus students have continued to visit the residents at Peter Badcoe House. James from Advisory 7 joined the group this term, connected with a budding artist and drew her! This week Lincoln chatted with James to hear how his piece came together.
What inspired you to do the art work?
I was really inspired by Elena, she was quite self conscious at the start and didn't want to come out because of her birthmark. However, when she came out, she told me she was learning how to draw. Because of this, I wanted to draw her and showcase to her how beautiful she was and that she wasn't someone people would be scared of, or not want to be around. She told me never to isolate myself and I was so proud of her she learnt that lesson herself.
Have the residents given you a different perspective on life?
Absolutely, the biggest thing is how much our visits can mean to them and how much you can make a difference in someone's day or even life by just being there to talk to and connect with them. Some of them don't get a lot of opportunities to connect with younger people so it's really valuable time, and so many of them have fascinating life stories and have achieved great things.
What is it like talking to the residents?
The group is mixed in terms of those who have dementia/are less present and those who are more present, and there's also a pretty wide range of ages and abilities so everyone is different. With a lot of people it was easy just to ask them about their life, hobbies and interests and listen to their stories. For those who were less responsive I found it was enough just to sit with them and be in the same space.
Inspired by social media posts from other Aged Care facilities, the students also interviewed the residents for life advice!
