Forgive my awful posture - Harvey
For this edition we sat with Harvey, who is currently in Year 12 and completing a Senior Project on New South Wales state politics.
To kick things off, what are your interests?
My Interests are history, film and Australian politics.
What is your project on/about?
I'm making an information video about how the New South Wales state parliament works, this has included interviewing politicians which I will add in the video.
I have interviewed Dominic Perrottet, Tim Crackanthorp, Greg Piper, Natalie Ward and Jodie Harrison. The biggest thing was that I was able to understand was the difference between how politics works in theory compared to in practice.
Harvey interviewing ex Premier of NSW, Dominic Perrottet.
Why did you choose this project?
It started over the Christmas holidays where I thought I could very quickly learn about state politics, but I couldn't find any reliable or good sources that captured everything I needed to know. So I thought what if I became my own source and I decided to start contacting experts in the field so I could ask questions that I struggled to find concise answers too.
What are you most excited about for your project?
Outside of just finishing it, moving forward I'm most excited about hearing back from the people I have interviewed about the video.
What LTI’s are you looking into?
I have worked in a newsroom at the radio but there are none that I'm currently looking into. I have a mentor at the university who is a professor for political and international relations and he's been very helpful as both a source of additional knowledge and with the interviews, creating questions and organising the information.
Can CHC help?
They've already been very helpful supplying camera and audio equipment that I used to film the interviews and film the rest of the video.

This term, the Bike Social Action Project Group is working hard to start up an exciting service for anyone who wants their own reliable bicycle. CHC's upcoming Bike Library will loan a bike to anyone who needs one for as long as they need.
The Bike Library is all about breaking down the barriers to cycling, financial or otherwise. As advisor Will says: "we want more people riding bikes, we want to give people an opportunity who might not otherwise be able to start, by finding them a bike that suits them".
Cycling has great benefits for your health and the health of the planet. The Bike SAPG believes no one should be blocked from accessing those benefits. The Bike Library should be up and running by late this term or early next term.
If you're interested fill out the form ASAP, so they can get a head start on finding the right ride for you. Bikes can be borrowed for any amount of time, from overnight to the rest of the year. The bike SAPG will maintain them for you with regular check ups, to make sure your bike is in good shape.
The more bikes that are donated Bike Library, the better it can help out those who need it, so if you have an unused bike laying around at home, please email Will at will.brown20@det.nsw.gov.au

Does your project need extra dimension, or some evidence for Social Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning?
A survey is a great way to reach out to the community and gain real world input about your topic. You can gather the opinions and experiences of the CHC community and use Google Forms' inbuilt statistics features for Quantitative Reasoning evidence.
On that note, below are a handful of student surveys the TGIF encourage our wider community to complete!

Getting involved in a Clean Up for World Environment Day is more than just helping the planet. It’s a powerful way to support your own mental health and wellbeing.
This event is being held as part of our Cooks Hill Campus Positive Education Wellbeing program.
There is much evidence to support that giving back creates a sense of purpose, boosts mood, and helps us feel more connected to something bigger than ourselves.
Activities like this also build important life skills such as resilience, teamwork, and community pride—reminding us that small actions, when we work together, can make a big difference.
