Acknowledgement of Country
I would like to Acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which we are based, the land of the Awabakal and Worimi people. I would like to pay my respects to Aboriginal people past, present and emerging and to country itself. I would like to extend that respect to all Indigenous people reading this issue of TGIF.

Editor's Welcome
Hello and welcome to the final TGIF issue of Term 1 2025! I think we can all agree that this term went by in a flurry! Some incredible work was done and amazing things were achieved by our student body. Congrats all for such an outstanding exhibition week, have a beautiful break and we'll see you in Term 2!
- Reylen
Exhibition Week is an exciting week where students showcase their learning journey over the term. Highlighting the skills acquired, new knowledge gathered and reflections of process.
Some highlights the advisors and LST had:
Seeing students persevere through challenges and take on obstacles as a chance to grow.
Students connecting with mentors to help deepen their learning.
Witnessing new students do well in their first exhibition. Providing lots of context for their panel who are also new to Big Picture.
Seeing how Indigenous Perspectives can be applied well to a project.
Overall, the personal growth as seen in every advisory!
In our final Town Hall for the term, students got Easter-themed rewards to choose from to celebrate their improvements for various Big Picture requirements. Congratulations to those who won an Easter egg and to all those who missed out, we encourage you to continue striving in '25! Your efforts don't go unnoticed.

What do you do in your SAPG?
A: The Childcare SAPG is heavily self-directed. In our group we form smaller groups to plan lessons for the kids at Daycare. Lessons include craft activities, counting games for maths, sports/outdoor activities.
Why did you choose this SAPG?
A: I chose this because I am interested in Childcare and am currently completing a Cert III in Childcare and thought joining this SAPG would help me get ahead in my career through more experience.
P: I wanted to learn more about kids, see what it's like to work with them. I also am interested in Childcare and potentially a career in becoming a Paediatric doctor.
Favourite part?
A: My favourite thing about this SAPG is seeing how the kids explore their imaginations, what drives them and seeing them be their unique selves!
P: I love seeing the kids' personalities shine through in the activities we lead and also seeing them bonding with their peers!

On Wednesday almost 50 CHC students went on an excursion to Maitland Art Gallery. It was an excellent, inspiring time. We saw exhibitions showcasing local artists and artists from abroad. Notably, we loved seeing the Brenda Clouten Scholarship finalists who were on display and Mostafa Azimitabar's works, including his self-portrait that was showcased in the Archibald.
Thank you Alison for organising!
Luna park
Next term we will be going on an excursion to Luna Park! The price is usually around $50 per person but make sure to check your emails for any updates. Consider doing some extra chores around the house to earn the money!
James' survey
As part of James' project he will be having an art exhibition called Art Block which will be a series of portraits illustrated by him. Make sure to check out his survey if you would like to be featured in his work:
"LTI never sleeps" - Andy
You can still look for LTI's during the holidays or even continuing the LTI you have now. Make sure if you are leaving an LTI this term to send them an email saying thank you for their hospitality.
Farewell to Jamaica and Louis
Cooks Hill Campus will be sad to see these amazing people leave. They've been great additions to the team here and will be missed! We wish them luck and all the best in Ballina and their future endeavours!

To the students, you are a group of kind, passionate and thoughtful young adults. Thank you for making my time here a daily joy.
To the staff, I’ve never worked in a place that shows such care for their students and fellow staff, I will miss you (and our safety meetings) very much!
-Louis
Dearest Cooks Hill Campus,
I have been really blessed over the last few years to get to be a part of this beautiful community. Each of you have taught me so much, and this experience has been a great privilege to me as an educator and a person.
Keep being your curious, kind, unique and wacky wonderful selves, and I can’t wait to hear about your achievements in the future.
-Jamaica
Over the holidays there will be a range of exciting events taking place around the area. So, if you'd like to plan an exciting day or night out, consider some of the following local gatherings:
Future Street Party! Happening on the 12th at Newcastle Museum. Check out some live music, score a free tote bag screen printed with art from a local artist and support our Conservation Critters (SAPG), who will be hosting a stall with seed bombs, bug hotels and viewing of the documentary 'Power of Activism'.
From the 11th of April to the 1st of May, Six the Music will be performing in Civic theatre. The new, highly popular musical has won an abundance of awards and had been nominated for a Grammy. If you want to see what all the fuss is about, or you have been wanting to watch it already, go on down and check it out.
From the 17th of April to the 20th of April, Byron Bay will be hosting the iconic Bluesfest, where singers such as Missy Higgins, Hozier, Julia Stone, Jarrasic 5, and many more big named will be performing. So, if you're willing to make the drive, this is something I highly recommend.
Starting today (the 11th of April) and going to the 3rd of May, the Lassu Cosmic Cabaret will be hosted at 16 Chatham Road in Hamilton north. It is a musical featuring aliens, space rangers, and cowboys. Sound interesting?
