Welcome to this edition of TGIF! We'll be covering events that happened over week 1 and 2, including NAIDOC Day celebrations and Peer Suppport Training. You'll also find contributions from Arcadians about their passions and interests!
TGIF has changed from being a SAPG (Social Action Project Group) to being advisory-led. Every fortnight a different advisory will be editing and publishing TGIF. This week's issue will be brought to you by Advisory 4, AKA "the Arcade" !!

We pay respect to the traditional custodians of the land that we learn and live on today, the
Awabakal and Worimi people.
We would like to recognise and thank any Indigenous people in our school and wider community,
remember those who have passed and honour our future leaders.
This was, is and will always be Aboriginal land.

This week we celebrated NAIDOC, thanks to our incredible student Lily V-S!
National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year (Sunday to Sunday), to celebrate and recognise the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. As these dates fall at the end of term and in the school holidays, Cooks Hill Campus celebrated NAIDOC week this week.
We had a fabulous Town Hall and great workshops for students to participate in, read on to find out more from Lincoln!
On Wednesday we did stuff for NAIDOC!!
The sessions the workshops were on for 3-4
The Cooks Hill Preschool that the child-care SAPG works with came in- they split into 2 groups 1 group into a weaving workshop and the other into a music workshop. After all the workshops, which were done across the school, we all came back to the Hive where the people who ran and helped with the workshops talked a bit then the children from Cooks Hill Preschool played an Aboriginal song where they shook maracas and played drums which went really well- the song was really good.
The possum skin cloak workshop was run by Mitch Mahoney an Aboriginal artist. The workshop had the possum skin cloak made by students in a previous year and brought back in, to be shown for the workshop. One side was Aboriginal artwork and the other was the possum fur to keep warm.
During the workshop Mitch Mahoney explained the story behind the artwork of the cloak and why First Nations' people made these cloaks. He explained that they were made as ethically as possible so every part of the dead possum was used either for food or other stuff.
The language workshop: The people that went to the language workshop got to learn from Angelina Joshua about Aboriginal languages, specifically Kroil, and learnt a few words and sentences.
Thank you Lily for organising everything!

✨ Bouldering ✨
💪 It will solve all your problems 🫳
It's you versus the wall 🫵
What is bouldering?
Bouldering is a form of rock climbing that doesn't require any harnesses. You climb around 1 meter to 3 meters high over a thick matt.
Rock climbing
Rock climbing enhances well-being by:
1. Physical Fitness: Full-body workout improving strength, endurance, and flexibility. 2. Mental Health: Boosts focus, problem-solving skills, and self-confidence.
3. Stress Relief: Acts as mindfulness, reducing stress and promoting relaxation.
4. Adventure: Encourages exploration and adrenaline rushes.
The biology of thrills - it increases bodily functions like heart rate, blood pressure and respiratory rate

Hey I’m Charlie T and I'm doing an SBAT at Lambton Pool. An SBAT is a School Based Apprenticeship/Traineeship and I’m completing a Certificate III in Aquatics & Community Recreation. I have a permanent/part-time position at the pool working in reception, the kiosk, as a slide attendant and lifeguard. Working in reception and kiosk is my favorite areas to work because I’m moving around most of the time making food, coffees or letting people into the pool. I’ve met a lot of new people, most of them are much older than me but so far, I'm about halfway through and I'm enjoying it a lot.
Towards the end of last term, Margot layed out a sheet of butcher’s paper across the middle table in Advisory 4 with the intent of everyone drawing something. We left it on the table for a good week or two, then cut out specific drawings we liked and added them to a big canvas to make a massive collaborative artwork.
