Acknowledgement of Country
I would like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we are meeting today, the Awabakal People and acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who now reside in this area. I extend that respect to Elders past and present and emerging cultural knowledge holders.

Essential Question: Can I educate others on ableism?
What: I made a disability activism poster.
How: I made a first draft on procreate. and then I transferred it to lino and cut the poster and printed it. Finally I coloured in the strips with alcohol markers.
Why: I decided to do this because our society is inherently ableist by default and there is so much ableism all the time everywhere.
Independent Science Research Report: Glass blowing.
What: I made lots of glass beads and prince rupert droplets. I also made some small blown vessels.
How: I used glass rods and lots of heat. I used a hothead which is a type of glass blowing torch.
Why: I really like glass and I wanted to learn a new medium. And I connect with old ladies.
Essential Question: Can I successfully hold an exhibition of my art?
What: I created five portraits in ink and coloured pencil of creative people from cooks hill campus.
How: I used both hot and cold pressed water colour paper and ink and pencil.
Why: I wanted to make young creative people in our community feel more represented as artists.
Essential Question: How much technology can you put into a 1:18 scale rc car?
What: I made a 1:18 scale 3D printed rc car.
How: I started with sketches of the basic idea and then I started aerodynamic testing. I built multiple 3D printed prototypes untill I was happy with the result.
Why: I decided to do this project because I was interested in car designing and aerodynamics.

COLLECT is The Lock-Up’s annual fundraising exhibition, which proudly showcases over a hundred artists from Newcastle and the Hunter, as well as The Lock-Up’s broader artistic program.
Curated by Early Career Curator Andrea Grljusic, COLLECT is a celebration of our diverse creative community⎯ it’s our way of supporting and connecting with our local community of artists⎯ positioning early career through to established artists alongside our highly regarded artistic program, and introducing them to COLLECT-ors big and small. The Lock-Up is committed to presenting the best of contemporary art in Newcastle and beyond, and we hope to mirror this commitment in our selection of artists. This year’s iteration is expected to host an exciting line-up, and encourages both established and emerging artists to apply.
