This course is organized thematically with units focused upon a larger concept and then broken into smaller issues to be investigated throughout the year. Throughout the year themes will include collective learning, religion and beliefs, the rise and fall of empires, laws and government, and globalization. Organizing the curriculum by theme allows for students to develop a deeper understanding of how an issue develops over time. This process will help inspire intellectual curiosity, promote a deeper engagement with the past, and empower students to be active participants in their learning as they develop their own answers.
