I used the red triangle of the Palestinian flag to make the tent. Since their homes were bombed, many Palestinians were forced to live in tents. The white silhouette of a child peeks through the curtains which pays homage to the many innocent children whose lives were cut short.
The Keffiyeh is a traditional headdress used by Palestinians. Its unique pattern symbolizes many things. The fishnet pattern which is present in the quilt represents the ties with the Mediterranean Sea and the leaf pattern represents olive trees which are significant to Palestinians. The Keffiyeh is now being used to show solidarity with Palestinians. I incorporated this pattern into the white stripe of the flag.
The wave represents the Mediterranean Sea. The fabric used was black lace which symbolizes loss and mourning. It also represents the black stripe of the flag.
