Grade 4 Porridge Showcase - 2 May

A delightful evening of song, humour and great fun was presented by the Grade 4s on Thursday 2 May; an action-packed rehash of the classic ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears’. With characters such as Jack Spratt, Miss Goldie Lox, Little Bo-Peep (without her sheep), the Three Billygoats, Simple Simon, Old Mother Hubbard, Tom Tom the Piper’s son, Peter Piper, and a myriad of other nursery rhyme characters, the plot was thick with intrigue… and more than a little confusion! Papa Bear was soon uncovered as a rascal intent on developing a global porridge empire (ably aided by the thuggish Billygoats) … and a source of great embarrassment to Junior Bear. What relief to have had Inspector Drain and his four cops hot on the trail to solve the case (whether it was PC Plod’s nuts, Ma Hubbard’s recipe book, Papa Bear’s smelly clothes or the ubiquitous cash).

The Grade 4s certainly did themselves proud. To witness their personal growth, with each child adding enormous value, was humbling. It is no mean feat to have to memorise a tricky script (with some tongue-twisters in the mix), to master dance routines and songs, as well as having to perform all of this in a seven scene production before a large audience. Their joy, effort, dedication, and, in some cases, bravery, contributed to this showcase being a showstopper!
