Dear Clifton Notties Families,

As we reach the end of another vibrant and fulfilling term, we would like to take a moment to reflect on the wonderful experiences we've shared and to wish you all a restful and enjoyable break.

This term has been brimming with positivity and excitement, with numerous activities designed to celebrate childhood and foster growth. Our commitment to "bombarding children with the good stuff" has never been stronger, and it’s been delightful to see the joy and development in our boys and girls.

It’s wonderful to witness the overall growth in our children, academically, socially, and emotionally. This growth is a testament to the supportive environment fostered by our dedicated staff and the unwavering support from you, our parents. Your positive attitude towards the school’s efforts to provide a world-class, unique offering has been instrumental in our success.

A huge thank you to all parents for embracing our mission and actively participating in your children’s education. Your encouragement and involvement are vital to creating the enriching and nurturing environment that Clifton Notties is known for.

As we look forward to the break, we hope you have time to relax and enjoy special moments with your families. We eagerly anticipate welcoming you back for another exciting term filled with new adventures and opportunities for growth.

Some Parent News

We are thrilled to welcome Leona and Chris van der Merwe, prominent figures in the horse riding community, to the Clifton family. Both have proudly represented South Africa in showjumping and recently moved from Limpopo with their Grade 0 daughter, Leone.

Leona recently secured first place in a World Cup Qualifier event, and just last week, Chris triumphed in a Grand Prix event at the Maxwell Indoor Centre. Both are exceptional riders for Sportshorse Stud, owned by fellow parent Govett Triggol.

We are incredibly proud of their achievements and wish them continued success in their future events. It's truly wonderful to see our Clifton parents excelling on such prestigious platforms.

Congratulations to Aaron Beyers who received his Out & About Badge for Campcraft.

Art

Sunflower Competition

Each child was given a piece of paper and tasked with creating as many shades of yellow as possible using their watercolor palette. Once their paper was filled with these various shades, they cut it into sunflower petals.

After studying Vincent van Gogh's famous painting "The Sunflowers," each child used their uniquely shaded petals to construct a sunflower. Then, in a group, they worked together to create the vase and background for their sunflowers. The results were outstanding!

Mrs Borgen judged all the class posters and after great deliberation, it was decided that the Grade 5K, now 5S were the overall winners. Well done to our boys and girls!

Chess

John Bubb (Grade 4) and Bastian Nicolson (Grade 6) were chosen to represent Clifton at the annual Midlands Chess Championships held at Cordwalles on the 10 June. Twelve local schools participated, including Clifton. Bastian won two of his games, and his other games were very closely contested. John won all five of his games and received the Junior Chess Champion trophy. John was the only child at the tournament to win all his games. Congratulations boys!

Riding

The following Clifton riders qualified for the South African Youth Championships taking place from 28 June - 7th July at Durban Shongweni Club. Congratulations and we wish them all the best!

Hannah Mussett made the South African pony club dressage team. The South African team won the dressage competition and Hannah scored the highest out of all the South African riders. Well done Hannah!
