Grade 00 - Termly Update
Reflecting on Term 2, we cherish the numerous events that brought our Shongololo community together, including Tent and Torch Night, Mother’s Day Tea, Open Classroom, Grandparents Day, Father’s Day Safari, and Mini Comrades. These occasions provided many opportunities for families, friends, and teachers to connect.
The lovely warm autumn and winter weather created the perfect backdrop for exploring and discovering our unique environment. This allowed us to engage in creative and discovery-based learning through art, mud, water, tree climbing, and barefoot walking, offering rich sensory experiences and stimulating brain growth.
During South Africa's voting process, our class had discussions about making choices and using our voices to make a difference. We recreated a smaller version of the voting system, giving students the chance to vote for our class pet. They learned about queuing, waiting their turn, and making their own choice by selecting their pet with a big X in a voting box. This week, we welcomed Humphrey the hamster into our class. Going forward, we will explore the responsibilities of caring for and looking after a creature.
Additionally, our young learners in Grade 00 embarked on a captivating journey into the world of horses and stables as part of our Horse Sense program. This experience provided them with the invaluable opportunity to immerse themselves in nature and get up close and personal with these magnificent animals. Our Horse Sense Adventures not only allowed our students to connect with nature and animals but also empowered them with essential life skills such as responsibility, communication, and confidence-building. It's been a journey of discovery and growth that will leave a lasting impact on our young learners.
We are looking forward to the third term and the new adventures it brings to the Shongololo Class.
