Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we progress through another exciting school year, I wanted to take a moment to share some fantastic news about our school's recent achievements and express my deep gratitude for your ongoing support and partnership.
It is with great pride that I announce some remarkable accomplishments from the 23-24 school year:
Our school has exceeded growth expectations in all academic areas. This is the first time our school has exceeded growth overall since the implementation of the NC School Report Card during the 2013-2014.
We've increased our overall proficiency by an impressive 5 percentage points to an overall score of 69. This is the highest overall score since the implementation of the NC School Report Card during the 2013-2014.
For the second year in a row, all student groups measured by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction have met or exceeded growth targets.
These achievements are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, the tireless efforts of our exceptional teachers, and the invaluable support you provide at home.
This success story is one of true collaboration. The partnership between our school and your homes has created a supportive ecosystem where our students can thrive. Your engagement in your child's education – whether through helping with homework, attending school events, or simply encouraging a love of learning – has been instrumental in these achievements.
While we celebrate these successes, we also look forward with excitement to the opportunities that lie ahead. Our teachers remain committed to:
1.Providing engaging and challenging lessons
2.Creating dynamic learning environments
3.Strengthening their connections with your children and with you
We believe that by maintaining this positive momentum and continuing our collaborative efforts, we can help your children reach even greater heights. Thank you for being active partners in this journey. Together, we are preparing our students for bright and prosperous futures.
With gratitude and excitement for the future,
Mr. Robinson
Principal, George Moses Horton Middle School
CULTURE
CORApacks
CORApacks is a vital program that aims to support students who may be experiencing food insecurity by providing them with nutritious meals and snacks during weekends and school holidays from September to June. Each participating student will receive a monthly box of food, delivered straight to their doorstep, which includes three meals and two snacks for each day they are not in school. These boxes will contain a variety of pantry staples, along with easy-to-prepare items such as cereal cups, Chef Boyardee meals, microwavable mac and cheese, milk, juice, and snacks.
Please contact Ms. Hadley if you would like to sign up for CORApacks for your student. She can reached by phone or text at 919-444-0549 or by email at mhadley@chatham.k12.nc.us
(IMPORTANT) Code of Civility Acknowledgement and YONDR Pouch Assurances
The purpose of this form is to address two important aspects of our school policy: the Code of Civility and our cell phone policy using Yondr pouches. Realizing that paper copies get lost sometimes and that we are moving to a digital way to manage data, this will serve as the documentation needed by Chatham County Schools verifying receipt of the Code of Civility. This will also ensure that we are reiterating expectations for YONDR pouches and can continue to move forward positively with this pilot program.

Morning & Afternoon Carpool Dismissal
Parents, our morning carpool is taking a little longer than our normal run time. As a friendly reminder, please begin dropping off and picking up where the black cones on the sidewalk begin or end. You should only pull into the loop in the afternoon if your child is not outside. We are also kindly asking you to follow the carpool line around the loop and drop students off in front of the school. If you want to check your child out early we do not allow check out after 2:40 p.m.
