January 05, 2025
Dear GMH Families,
I hope this message finds you well as we return from our holiday break. Here are some important updates and an opportunity to help our broader community.
Hurricane Relief Glove Drive- As we begin this new year, our community has an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by the recent hurricane in Eastern North Carolina. Many families face cold weather with limited resources, and we'd like to lend a helping hand by collecting gloves to keep them warm.
We're inviting all students and families to participate by donating at least one pair of gloves. Every donation will go a long way in providing warmth and comfort to someone in need. Donations can be brought to the school by January 16th. If you have any questions about our hurricane relief effort, please contact Ms. Terry at sterry@chatham.k12.nc.us. Let's show Eastern NC how much we care!
A reminder that two weeks remain in the second nine weeks. I encourage all families to:
Review your student's current grades
Ensure all missing work is completed
Have your student speak with their teachers about any concerns
Address any questions before report cards are issued
Over the next two weeks, we will reinforce our Yondr pouch expectations and conduct a program reset for the new semester. We will:
Send regular reminders about proper usage
Ensure compliance with expectations
Replace any damaged pouches
Start the new semester with a renewed commitment to this important program
Remember our theme this year is "Earn the Confidence." When students take ownership of their learning, they build confidence that extends beyond the classroom and contributes to their path to success.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child's education.
Best regards,
Mr. Robinson
CULTURE
SYSTEMS
PowerSchool is an advanced Student Information System used by schools across the country. Its functions include grading, attendance, and the scheduling of courses. PowerSchool is capable of allowing parents and students to access student grades and attendance in real time, as well as state assessment individual reports. The purpose of this feature is to increase communication and collaboration among parents, students, and teachers. It gives parents and guardians more information about their child’s education and encourages students to take increased ownership of their learning.
Parents/Guardians are provided an opportunity each fall to review their contact information and their student's information in PowerSchool, yet it is important to contact our data manager Mrs. Bland if any parent/guardian or student information has changed at any time during the year. This will ensure families receive all school communications including (but not limited to) report cards, inclement weather notifications, emergencies, and weekly updates from the school.
