September 15, 2024
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this update finds you well. I'd like to address a few important topics to ensure we're all working together for the success and safety of our students.
Staying Informed on Student Progress
We encourage all parents to regularly check PowerSchool to stay up-to-date with their child's grades. This proactive approach helps you remain informed about your student's academic progress.
If you have any concerns, please follow this communication chain:
First, reach out directly to the teacher involved.
2. For curriculum-related questions, contact Ms. Johnson, our Curriculum Coach.
3. For grade-specific issues:
5th and 6th grade: Contact Ms. Harris
7th and 8th grade: Contact me, Mr. Robinson
4. For administrative, safety, or conduct issues, please contact either Ms. Harris or myself.
Safety Measures and Emergency Preparedness
Your child's safety is our top priority, even taking priority over teaching and learning. I want to assure you that we are proactive in maintaining a secure learning environment:
During our recent teacher workday, we reviewed our emergency procedures, including lockdown protocols.
We will be conducting a schoolwide lockdown drill this week to ensure everyone is prepared.
We collaborate closely with our School Resource Officer and the Chatham County Sheriff's Department to maintain efficient and effective safety measures.
Our procedures are developed in partnership with RSM Risk Management Services to adhere to best practices.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child's education. Together, we can ensure a safe and successful school year for all our Wildcats.
Sincerely,
Mr. Robinson

CORApacks
CORApacks is a vital program that aims to support students who may be experiencing food insecurity by providing them with nutritious meals and snacks during weekends and school holidays from September to June. Each participating student will receive a monthly box of food, delivered straight to their doorstep, which includes three meals and two snacks for each day they are not in school. These boxes will contain a variety of pantry staples, along with easy-to-prepare items such as cereal cups, Chef Boyardee meals, microwavable mac and cheese, milk, juice, and snacks.
Please contact Ms. Hadley if you would like to sign up for CORApacks for your student. She can reached by phone or text at 919-444-0549 or by email at mhadley@chatham.k12.nc.us
(IMPORTANT) Code of Civility Acknowledgement and YONDR Pouch Assurances
The purpose of this form is to address two important aspects of our school policy: the Code of Civility and our cell phone policy using Yondr pouches. Realizing that paper copies get lost sometimes and that we are moving to a digital way to manage data, this will serve as the documentation needed by Chatham County Schools verifying receipt of the Code of Civility. This will also ensure that we are reiterating expectations for YONDR pouches and can continue to move forward positively with this pilot program.

Morning & Afternoon Carpool Dismissal
Parents, our morning carpool is taking a little longer than our normal run time. As a friendly reminder, please begin dropping off and picking up where the black cones on the sidewalk begin or end. You should only pull into the loop in the afternoon if your child is not outside. We are also kindly asking you to follow the carpool line around the loop and drop students off in front of the school. If you want to check your child out early we do not allow check out after 2:40 p.m.
