September 22, 2024
Dear Families,
I hope this message finds you well. I'd like to share some important information about upcoming events and our approach to student progress.
Curriculum Night - September 26th
We're excited to invite you to our Curriculum Night on September 26th, starting at 5:30 PM. We'll begin in the multipurpose room, where our PTSA will present information for the year ahead. Afterward, we'll break out into grade levels, allowing teachers to share more about the content they'll be teaching throughout the year.
Please note that this is not a time for individual parent conferences about specific concerns. However, it's an excellent opportunity to meet face-to-face with teachers and arrange future meetings to collaborate for your student's benefit.
Progress Reports
Progress reports will be available on September 26th through the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Many families are already using this system to monitor their student's progress. If you haven't set up your Parent Portal account yet, you'll receive a message from your child's teacher with instructions on how to do so.
Understanding Our Grading Philosophy
As we discuss grades, it's important to understand our approach. Grades are used as a form of data representing your student's mastery of the content being presented. This may differ from past grading systems that focused more on compliance or work completion. While we still consider these factors, our primary focus is on using grades to show understanding of the material.
This approach, combined with performance assessments like STAR and NC Check-Ins, helps us drive instruction and inform pacing. We believe this method provides a more meaningful representation of your student's academic progress and helps us better tailor our teaching to individual needs.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child's education. We look forward to seeing you at Curriculum Night!
Best regards,
Sincerely,
Mr. Robinson

(IMPORTANT) Code of Civility Acknowledgement and YONDR Pouch Assurances
The purpose of this form is to address two important aspects of our school policy: the Code of Civility and our cell phone policy using Yondr pouches. Realizing that paper copies get lost sometimes and that we are moving to a digital way to manage data, this will serve as the documentation needed by Chatham County Schools verifying receipt of the Code of Civility. This will also ensure that we are reiterating expectations for YONDR pouches and can continue to move forward positively with this pilot program.

Morning & Afternoon Carpool Dismissal
Parents, our morning carpool is taking a little longer than our normal run time. As a friendly reminder, please begin dropping off and picking up where the black cones on the sidewalk begin or end. You should only pull into the loop in the afternoon if your child is not outside. We are also kindly asking you to follow the carpool line around the loop and drop students off in front of the school. If you want to check your child out early we do not allow check out after 2:40 p.m.
