Dear George Moses Horton Middle School Families,
Happy Mother's Day to all of the amazing mothers, grandmothers, and stepmothers who support our Wildcats each day! Your love, guidance, and dedication make a tremendous difference in the lives of our students, and we are grateful for everything you do.
As we approach the final weeks of the school year, we find ourselves in both a season of review and preparation for the End-of-Grade tests and a season of celebration as we highlight the wonderful accomplishments of our Wildcats and faculty.
Last week was filled with moments of pride for our school community. Our chorus students delivered an amazing performance at their spring concert, showcasing the musical gifts they've been developing all year. We also celebrated our athletes at the Athletic Awards ceremony, recognizing their hard work, sportsmanship, and achievements throughout their seasons.
I'm especially proud to announce the recognition of several outstanding staff members: Ms. Terry as our Teacher of the Year, Ms. Andrew as our Beginning Teacher of the Year, and Mr. Powell as our Instructional Assistant of the Year. Even more impressive, Ms. Andrew was selected as the Beginning Teacher of the Year for all of Chatham County! Please join me in congratulating these exceptional educators who bring their best to our students every day.
This week brings more opportunities to celebrate the talents and community spirit of George Moses Horton Middle School. On Tuesday, we invite you to join us for our Night of the Arts celebration, where our students' creative accomplishments will be on display. Then on Thursday afternoon, we'll hold our final Dens Day celebration in the form of an afternoon pep rally, with hopes of inspiring our students for the final weeks of school and celebrating the connectedness that our Dens program has helped create throughout the year.
Looking ahead, we have more special events on the calendar, including our spring band concert, various incentive celebrations, and our end-of-year awards. These events give us the chance to recognize the growth and achievements of our Wildcats as we bring the 2024-2025 school year to a close.
To help our students stay focused and motivated during these final weeks, we are intentionally planning special incentives across the school. Each grade level has designed their own unique celebrations, and we will also be conducting our end-of-year raffle schoolwide. Students will have the opportunity to earn raffle tickets by meeting academic and behavioral expectations. During our annual field day, we'll draw winners for some amazing prizes that are sure to excite our students!
Thank you for your continued partnership helping George Moses Horton Middle School prepare students for bright and prosperous futures. Together, we're finishing strong!
Go Wildcats!
