GMH Families,
As we approach the end of the school year, we wanted to share some important information about the upcoming End of Grade Testing, which begins on Friday, May 23rd.
Last week, we had the opportunity to bring our entire school community together for a special assembly where we celebrated the close of this year's Dens program and prepared our students for the upcoming tests. During this assembly, I emphasized to our students that this testing is not something to stress or be anxious about—it's simply one additional data point that highlights their learning from the school year. However, in the spirit of always doing our best, I encouraged them to take it seriously and showcase all the incredible work they have accomplished this year. I also explained that just like students receive report cards, our school receives a report card too, and their achievements will be displayed for all to see.
Additionally, I reminded our students that there will be opportunities for retesting during the school year. This "second bite at the apple" will help our students who may have an off day or need one more chance to demonstrate their knowledge and skills.
I am genuinely excited to be able to highlight the students of GMH and celebrate their growth!
Your child has been working hard all year, and this is their opportunity to showcase all they've learned. To help them have the best testing experience possible, here are a few friendly reminders:
Morning arrival: Please aim to have your student at school by 7:55 am, as testing will begin promptly at 8:15 am. Students need to be in their testing location by 8:10 am to get settled and focused.
Electronics policy: On testing days, only school Chromebooks will be permitted in testing rooms. Watches, earbuds, and Bluetooth headphones should stay at home or will be secured in your child's Yondr pouch with their backpack.
Dress code reminder: Hats and hoodies will not be permitted in the testing environment.
Chromebook preparation: Please ensure your child's Chromebook is fully charged each evening. Some teachers may ask students to leave their devices at school to ensure they're ready for testing.
A special touch: Feel free to write your child an encouraging note! We'll make sure they receive it before testing begins, giving them that extra boost of confidence.
We've already reviewed these guidelines with students, but we appreciate you reinforcing them at home as well.
Thank you for your support in helping make this testing period run smoothly. We believe in your children and know they'll do their very best!
Go Wildcats!
