LEADERSHIP
September 1, 2024
Dear GMH Community,
As we wrap up our first week of the school year, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your incredible support and collaboration. Despite the usual challenges that come with the start of a new academic year, your patience and understanding have been instrumental in making this week a resounding success. The positive energy flowing through our halls is a testament to the strong partnership between our school and families.
I'm pleased to report that the implementation of Yondr pouches has been a great success thus far, largely due to your cooperation. To further streamline this process, I kindly request that students who do not have phones return their Yondr pouches to their homeroom teachers on Tuesday. We have received feedback from students and parents that they do not want to be responsible for the pouches if their children do not have phones. As a response, we will collect the pouches and store them at school.
For families whose children may acquire a phone in the future, please contact the front office to arrange for a pouch distribution. This approach allows us to maintain our commitment to a distraction-free learning environment while building on the trust that forms the foundation of our school community. In instances where students have phones on campus without a YONDR pouch, I will confiscate the phone from the student, store it in my locked office, and reach out to parents to make arrangements that will ensure policy and protocols are being followed.
I'd also like to remind everyone about our arrival and dismissal procedures. Morning drop-off begins at 7:30 AM. Students arriving earlier will need to remain outside the building as official supervision is not available before this time. In the past, we were able to provide supervision prior to this time. Unfortunately, scheduling constraints do not allow us to provide this service this year.
For afternoon pick-up, we ask that you pick up your student by 3:15 PM if possible. If you anticipate any difficulties meeting this time, please communicate with our front office staff. We appreciate your efforts in helping us maintain a smooth and safe arrival and dismissal process.
Wishing all our Wildcat families a wonderful and restful Labor Day holiday weekend! See you on Tuesday!
Warmest regards,
Mr. Robinson

CULTURE
CORApacks
CORApacks is a vital program that aims to support students who may be experiencing food insecurity by providing them with nutritious meals and snacks during weekends and school holidays from September to June. Each participating student will receive a monthly box of food, delivered straight to their doorstep, which includes three meals and two snacks for each day they are not in school. These boxes will contain a variety of pantry staples, along with easy-to-prepare items such as cereal cups, Chef Boyardee meals, microwavable mac and cheese, milk, juice, and snacks.
Please contact Ms. Hadley if you would like to sign up for CORApacks for your student. She can reached by phone or text at 919-444-0549 or by email at mhadley@chatham.k12.nc.us
