Dear Wildcat Families,
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "Life's most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?" This powerful question has been beautifully answered by our Wildcat community over the past weeks.
Your incredible generosity in supporting those affected by Hurricane Helene in Western Carolina has been wonderful and we were able to collect over 300 gloves for this cause. Our final phase of this initiative is the Chatham County Schools MLK Day of Service on Monday, January 20th, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Northwood High School. Together, we'll prepare these donations for distribution to families in need.
A quick reminder regarding our YONDR program, we're implementing a "hard reset" of our phone pouch procedures starting January 23rd. Please take a moment to:
Review our cell phone policies and YONDR protocols (YONDR Pouch Policy)
Contact the office if your student needs a replacement pouch
Remember there is a $25 fee for damaged or lost pouches Your support of this system helps maintain an environment where students can focus fully on learning and engaging with their peers.
Mark your calendars: Report cards will be available through PowerSchool on January 30th, and we're excited to celebrate our students' achievements at our semester awards ceremony on January 31st. More details about the awards ceremony will be shared soon.
Looking ahead to February, we're thrilled to announce a special evening celebration of George Moses Horton on February 24th. This year, we're taking a fresh approach to honoring our school's namesake through an engaging performance-based event. The evening will bring to life Horton's remarkable story, our school's rich history, and the diverse cultural celebrations that make our community unique. Stay tuned for more details about this exciting celebration throughout the month.
Thank you for your continued partnership in making our school community stronger. Through service projects like our Hurricane Helene initiative and our commitment to creating focused learning spaces, we're showing our students that positive change happens when we work together.
Warm regards,
Mr. Robinson
CULTURE
SYSTEMS
PowerSchool is an advanced Student Information System used by schools across the country. Its functions include grading, attendance, and the scheduling of courses. PowerSchool is capable of allowing parents and students to access student grades and attendance in real time, as well as state assessment individual reports. The purpose of this feature is to increase communication and collaboration among parents, students, and teachers. It gives parents and guardians more information about their child’s education and encourages students to take increased ownership of their learning.
Parents/Guardians are provided an opportunity each fall to review their contact information and their student's information in PowerSchool, yet it is important to contact our data manager Mrs. Bland if any parent/guardian or student information has changed at any time during the year. This will ensure families receive all school communications including (but not limited to) report cards, inclement weather notifications, emergencies, and weekly updates from the school.
