Google Meet Updates Are Here!

During the spring, most schools utilized either Zoom or Google Meets as a way to video conference with students. Zoom definitely one-upped Google in the controls and features with their platform, yet Google had Zoom beat with privacy and security. 

For this reason our district only allows students to participate in video conferencing using Google Meets. Listed below are the new advanced features Google has recently rolled out. These features, combined with advanced security, makes Google Meets an even better tool for connecting with remote learners.

Updated features you will find today 

when you launch a Meet:


Host Controls to enable participants to share their screen or the host may choose to disable the feature.



Quick Access controls keeps uninvited guests out of your meeting by requiring them to ask to join.

Blurred background option 

Intuitive Closed Captioning 

Attendance Tracking with group generator






Advanced layout options with the tiled view holding up to 49 participants.
