Pi Day is Saturday, March 14 and while we won't be in class with students you can celebrate early (or late) with this fun video to challenge them to learn the first 100 digits of pi. The current record holder for reciting the digits of pi is Rajveer Meena. He recited 70,000 digits in 9 hours, 27 minutes (while blindfolded) on March 12, 2015.
If a friendly competition of memorizing digits isn't the fun you are looking for, then check out The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics for a great collection of activities for all ages. Your students may also like the read aloud Sir Cumference and the Dragon of Pi.
