Tech Drop-in sessions
Campus-Monday, March 12
Complex- Thursday, March 15
Stop in next week and ask a question, get a tip, or just say hey and grab a drink.
The Instructional Technology website is constantly changing. Each week a new home screen shows the most current newsletter, but all past issues are archived here as well. Screencasts from past training sessions are also available. Catch up on anything you missed at a time that is convenient for you. Please let me know if there are more resources you would like added to the site by filling out the feedback form. Thanks!
We are one-to-one with student devices across the system, and that is great! However, along with the increase use of student devices comes the inevitable accidents of dropped computers and spilled water on the keyboards (or worse...sticky cola). Accidents will happen, but there should be a concentrated effort to teach students how to care for these devices. Please use the guidelines below to remind students how to care for the devices.
Chromebook Care
General Good Ideas:
No food or drink allowed near Chromebooks.
Cords, cables, and removable storage devices must be inserted carefully into the Chromebook.
Never carry Chromebook while the screen is open.
Never shove into a desk as this could break the screen.
Screen Care:
Please encourage students to properly carry and close the devices. Here are some other tips to take care of the device.
Try not to lean on top of the Chromebook with body weight.
Do not place heavy books or other items on top of the Chromebook that could put pressure on the screen.
Do not place anything on the keyboard before closing the lid (e.g. pens, pencils, notebooks).
Please close the Chromebook carefully. Slamming them shut will crack the screen.
DO NOT HOLD OR CARRY BY CORNER OF SCREEN OR KEYBOARD - THIS WILL CAUSE DAMAGE

Cleaning your Chromebook:
There may be times you are tempted to wipe the device with disinfecting wipes. Please do not make this a habit. The moisture will damage the device. Instead, clean the screen with a soft, dry antistatic, or microfiber cloth. Do not use window cleaner or any type of liquid on the Chromebook. You can also use packaged pre-moistened eyeglass lens cleaning tissues to clean the screen.
