Online Whiteboard and Collaborative Spaces
Online whiteboards are a great way for students to collaborate online without having to sign-in. Other perks of digital whiteboards is that every student has their own canvas right in front of them, so no one is struggling to see the paper, mistakes can easily be erased with the UNDO button, and students can collaborate with others outside the classroom. There are several ways to use online whiteboards:
replace individual whiteboards and markers
sketch/plan/brainstorm
work out math problems
draw & label diagrams
the possibilities are endless!
Here are some great online whiteboards to try out:
Witeboard (Yes, that is how you spell it!)
Did you know that you can use stylus pens on computer trackpads? You can read all about it in THIS post, from the blog Techie Teacher, which also contains a link to affordable stylus pens for the elementary classroom.
Creating and Giving Access to Collaborative Boards
A really great feature of online whiteboards is collaboration, as mentioned above. The creator of the whiteboard can share the URL with team mates, easy right? Not quiet that easy if you have younger students. To solve this problem, the teacher would create multiple boards for partners/groups of students ahead of time and paste each URL into a Google Doc. The Doc can be assigned through Google Classroom, Canvas, or Seesaw for students to easily locate and click the link. This simplifies the accessibility for students and allows the teacher to jump into anyone's board and check their progress in real time.
