Cool math tool!
Graspable Math makes understanding math easier for students. The totally FREE online site allows students the ability to experiment with equations and engage in playful mathematical thinking. Graspable Math keeps track of the students steps so they can focus on the strategy. The system also integrates with Google Classroom.
We are excited to announce that we have a new and refreshed website coming in July!
As of July 1, 2018, we will begin utilizing the experience and website knowledge of Finalsite. Our current website and design are fantastic; we will be improving and renovating the following:
all programs will be included
a staff directory and employee portal will be added
navigating the site will be easier.
Please review any pages you manage and ensure you have the files, text, and pictures saved to the Google Drive link below by June 14th. Please create a subfolder with the appropriate title in the Google Drive file to make it easier to upload to the new site.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call or email Jennie Coker at cokerj@calhounschools.org

Hands Free Georgia Law begins on July 1....what should you know before then?
Beginning July 1, drivers in Georgia are prohibited from:
holding or supporting, with any part of the body, a wireless telecommunications device or stand-alone electronic device.
Writing, sending or reading any text-based communication, including a text message, instant message, e-mail or internet data.
Watching, recording, or broadcasting a video or movie.
Penalities:
1st offense-1 point and $50.00 fine
2nd offense-2 points and $100.00 fine
3rd or more offense- 3 points and $150.00 fine
Some considerations:
You may still talk on the phone as long as it is done hands-free. Drivers may use their phone's speakerphone, Bluetooth technology, an ear piece, a headphone or other device to communicate while driving.
Music streaming apps can be used provided the driver activates and programs them when they are parked. Drivers cannot touch their phones to do anything to their music apps when they are on the road.
A phone may be used when:
Reporting a traffic crash, medical emergency, fire, criminal activity or hazardous road conditions.
An employee or contractor of an utility service provider acting within the scope of their employment while responding to an utility emergency.
A first responder (law enforcement, fire, EMS) during the performance of their official duties.
When in a lawfully parked vehicle—this DOES NOT include vehicles stopped for traffic signals and stop signs on the public roadway.
You never know who is REALLY on the other side of an email.
Protect your privacy.
Phishing Alert
Be aware over the summer, DO NOT open ANY emails that are asking for passwords. We, the Technology Team, will never ask you for a password in email. We have access to your information already. Also, if an email seems unusual look at the sender's email address. If it is someone you know as the sender, but not their correct email address, it is a phishing email. DO NOT RESPOND OR CLICK ANY LINKS!
If the person's name and the email look correct, but the email is asking for unusual information, then please contact the person in a brand new email and ask if they really need the information, or contact a member of the technology department. The best way is through our ticketing system, linked here.
