Ethan Follman

This year’s Freshman Spotlights are winding down, but for this week the spot is on Ethan Follmann. Ethan was most nervous about competing against four different levels in sports in high school. He is involved in baseball, cross country, and track in his free time. Ethan would like to go straight to college after high school, but he’s not sure what he’d like to study. His favorite school lunch would be walking tacos and his favorite restaurant is HuHot Mongolian Grill. Ethan is the son of Amy and Brian Follmann and has two siblings named Jack and Abby. Someday, Ethan would like to travel to the planet Uranus.

Nolan Hensley

This week’s Freshman Spotlight is on Nolan Hensley. The thing that made him most nervous about coming into high school was the new drive to and from school. Nolan is involved in FFA, football, wrestling, golf, and baseball. Nolan is unsure what he’d like to do after high school but knows that he would like to go to college. His favorite school lunch is Crispito day. When asked what he’d like to achieve in high school he said “Pass and graduate with very good grades.” Nolan is the son of Nick and Cindy Hensley and has four siblings named Cece, Dayton, Devan, and Dylan. Someday, Nolan would love to travel to Australia and enjoy the nice weather.

Donicio Jaramillo

This week’s Freshman Spotlight is on Donicio Jaramillo. When first entering high school, Doni was most nervous about how to handle the new class schedules and times. After high school, he would like to go straight to college and possibly work with software development. Doni’s biggest pet peeve is when someone talks over him. Doni is the son of Sonia Jaramillo and has two brothers, Elijah and Roman. In his high school career, he would like to achieve better grades each year. Someday, Doni would like to visit Australia to see the desert and wildlife.

Reese Oglesbee

This week’s Freshman Spotlight is on Reese Oglesbee. He was most excited about having more freedom in high school compared to middle school. Reese is involved in football, basketball, track, and baseball. In his high school career, his number one goal is to graduate with good grades. His favorite restaurant to eat at is Buffalo Wild Wings. Reese is the son of Steve and Angela Oglesbee and has a brother named Rylan. Someday, Reese would like to travel to somewhere warm and tropical.

Lane Spieker

Lane Spieker is this week’s Freshman Spotlight. He was most excited about sports coming into high school and having a bigger team to compete with. Lane is involved in football, basketball, track, baseball, and Sports 4 Support. In his high school career, Lane would like to win a state championship in sports sometime during his four years. If Lane could be any animal he would be a cheetah because of how fast they are. His favorite restaurant is In-N-Out Burger. Lane is the son of Beth and David Spieker and has one brother named Chase. Someday, Lane would like to travel to Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts.

Marissa Spieker

Marissa Spieker is this week’s Freshman Spotlight. She was most excited about the new freedom in high school compared to middle school. Marissa is involved in a variety of different things year round including: FFA, 4-H, softball, volleyball, basketball, track, and speech. When asked what she’d like to achieve in high school she said “I would like to earn all straight A’s for at least one whole year.” If Marissa could be any animal in the world she would be a puppy because they’re very playful and cute. Her favorite restaurant is Olive Garden. Marissa is the daughter of Chris and Shana Spieker and has two siblings named Loudon and Allison. She would love to visit Hawaii someday.

Joe Kauffman

Joseph Kauffman is this week’s Freshman Spotlight and was most excited about participating in high school sports coming into high school. He is involved in baseball, track, football, and basketball. When asked what he’d like to achieve in his high school career he said “I’d like to be in the 4 year 4 sports club.” If Joe could be any animal he would be an Australian Shepard because then he wouldn’t have to go to school all day and get to do whatever he wanted. His favorite restaurant to eat at is Rancho Grande. Joe is the son of Nick and Heather Kauffman and has three siblings named Grace, Zach, and Kate. Someday Joe would like to travel to California because of how warm it is there.

Brianna Long

Brianna Long is our Freshman Spotlight this week. She was most nervous about making new friends and just generally being in high school and dealing with all of the new things that come with it. Brianna is involved in vocal and art class and enjoys them both equally. After high school, Brianna would like to go to college and get a degree in either photography or veterinary medicine. Her biggest pet peeve is when she has a messy locker. Brianna’s favorite school lunch is our Taco Tuesday. She is the daughter of Daniel Long Sr. and Freedom Silliman. She has one sister, named Lauren, and five brothers named Max, Dillon, Damien, Reece, and Junior. Brianna would like to travel to California, the Bahamas, and Hawaii someday.

Cade Ticknor

Cade Ticknor is this week’s Freshman Spotlight. When asked what he was most excited for in high school, Cade replied, “I’m excited to be able to compete at a higher level in sports.” Cade is actively involved in football, basketball, track, and baseball in his free time. He would like to go to medical school or play college level football after his high school career is over. Cade’s biggest pet peeve is when he repeats himself. His favorite school lunch is Crispitos. Cade is the son of Rob and Steph Ticknor and has three siblings named Trace, Drew, and Macy. He would like to travel to the NFL Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio someday.

Eric Pruett

Eric Pruett is this week’s Freshman Spotlight and was most nervous about meeting new people while going to high school. He is involved in vocal and had a role as an Eggman in the Beauty and the Beast musical. Eric wants to get a job right after high school and become a participating member of society. His biggest pet peeve in life is racial prejudice against others. Eric’s favorite school lunch is spaghetti and garlic bread. Eric is the youngest son of Carol and Elmer Pruett and has a sister named Kendra and a brother named Alex. He would like to travel to New York City to see the Statue of Liberty.

Cavan Murphy

Cavan Murphy is this week’s Freshman Spotlight. Cavan wasn’t really that nervous about coming into high school and was pretty excited. He is involved in speech, debate, baseball, FFA, and 4-H in his free time. After high school, Cavan would like to go to college, although he’s not sure where yet. Cavan’s biggest pet peeve is when people say the same answer, hoping for a different result. His favorite school lunch is pizza. Cavan is the son of Tom and Michele Murphy and has three siblings named Hunter, Preston, and Amber. He would like to travel to all fifty states during his lifetime.

Paige Jensen

This Freshman Spotlight is on Paige Jensen. Paige was most nervous about being on the bottom of the totem pole again at high school. She is involved in 4H, FFA, volleyball, dance team, track, band, speech, FCA, and debate. After high school, Paige plans to attend Kirkwood Community College for two years and then transfer to Iowa State University to study Veterinary Medicine. Paige’s biggest pet peeve is when she doesn’t get something just perfect because she is a perfectionist. Her favorite school lunch is Mandarin Chicken. Paige is the daughter of Ryan and Eva Jensen and she has a seven-year-old sister named Jenna. Paige would like to travel to Europe someday and possibly visit Germany so she could see some of her family origins.

Mallory Behnken

One thing that made Mallory Behnken most nervous about going to high school was getting lost. She is involved in volleyball, 4-H, FFA, basketball, track, softball, vocal, and band. After Mallory finishes her four years of high school, she would like to become a veterinarian. Her favorite school lunch is nachos. Mallory’s the daughter of Kim and Blaine Behnken of Massena. She has one younger sister, Natalie, who is in the 7th grade. The most unusual food she has ever eaten is buffalo. If Mallory could travel anywhere she would like to go to Denver or Louisville to a National Stock Show.

Faith Nath

When starting her high school career, Faith Nath was most nervous about getting lost in the school. She is involved in band, vocal, and speech. After she finishes high school, she would like to earn a degree somewhere in the technology field. One of Faith’s biggest phobias is spiders. Her favorite school lunch is walking tacos. One unusual food she enjoys is dipping her Cheez-Its in applesauce. Faith has one younger sister, Grace, who is in 6th grade. If Faith could travel anywhere, she would like to go to Canada just to experience something new.

Madison Daugherty

What made Madison Daugherty nervous about coming to high school was getting to know new teachers and having classes with older kids. She is currently involved in speech, vocal, and FFA. When Madison finishes her four years of high school she would like to continue her education, but is unsure where. Two of her biggest phobias include heights and spiders. Madison's favorite school lunch is walking tacos. She has two younger brothers, Payton, who is in 7th grade and Easton, who is two. Her parents are Carrie and Kyle. The most unusual food Madison enjoys eating is hot sauce in her mac and cheese. If she could travel anywhere she would like to travel to Ireland to experience their different culture.


Dominic Scar

Something that made Dominic Scar nervous about going to high school was having classes with older kids. This year he is involved in band and track. After earning his high school diploma, he plans to become a Navy Seal. He is the youngest of six children. His older siblings include Sydney, Spencer, Destiny, KateLynn, and Zack. Dominic says his favorite school lunch is pizza. The craziest food Dominic has ever eaten was snails while he was in Germany. If Dominic could travel anywhere, he would go to Iceland. Paige Vias

Paige Vais is the daughter of Joe Vais and Julie Williams and has four siblings. One thing that made her nervous about coming to high school was meeting new people. She is involved in volleyball, cheerleading, track, softball, speech, and vocal. After high school, Paige would like to go to college to become a nurse. Her biggest fear is talking in front of people. Paige’s favorite school lunch is chicken alfredo. If she could travel anywhere, she would like to go to lake Okoboji to explore and go boating.

Alaina Abild

When Alania Abild started high school she was most nervous about having classes with students from other grades. She is involved in track, speech, FFA, cheerleader, vocal, and dances at Adair Dance Academy. After completing her four years of high school Alania would like to become an actress. Her biggest phobia is ladybugs. Alaina’s favorite school lunch is walking tacos. She has four younger brothers. Owen, who is in 7th grade, Hayden and Boston, who are both in 5th grade, and Brentyn, who is in 4th grade. Alaina also has one younger sister, Trinity who is a 2nd grader. The most unusual food Alaina has ever eaten is bever. If she could travel anywhere she would like to go to Bora Bora to experience the beautiful scenery.


Colton Erickson


One thing that made Colton nervous about coming to high school was having to deal with his older sister Natasha. Colton also has two other older siblings, Nicole and Cody. He is involved in shooting sports and FFA. After high school he would like to become a DNR. His favorite school lunch is orange chicken. The most unusual food he has ever eaten is ostrich. If he could travel anywhere he would like to go to Canada.


Carter Denney

Carter Denney wasn’t nervous about starting high school. He is currently not involved in any extracurriculars. He is undecided about what he wants to do after high school. His favorite lunch is spaghetti. Carter has two sisters, Darcy, who is a junior, and Becca, who is in sixth grade. The most unusual food Carter has ever eaten is frog legs. If he could travel anywhere in the world he would like to go to Germany to experience driving on the “wrong” side of the road.

Elly Peters

Elly Peters is the daughter of Bruce Peters and Alyson Peters. She has several siblings and her older brother Kyler, graduated from CAM. Elly was not nervous about coming to high school and she is involved in cheerleading and 4-H. After high school Elly would like to attend college but is unsure where. She is afraid of snakes and worms. Elly’s favorite school lunch is chicken nuggets and curly fries. The most unusual food she has ever eaten is calamari. If Elly could travel anywhere in the world, she would like to fly to the moon to experience zero gravity.

Abby Follmann

Abby Follmann is the daughter of Amy Follmann and she has two brothers Ethan and Jack Follmann. When coming to high school she was nervous about the harder classes and getting to know the older students. Abby is involved in student council, speech, cheer, dance team, track, and dance at Dance Atlantic. After high school she would like to attend college but is undecided where. Abby’s favorite school lunch is walking tacos and the most unusual food she has ever eaten is deer. If she could travel anywhere, she would like to go to Hawaii to enjoy the warm tropical weather.

Eyon Steffensen

Eyon Steffensen is the son of Eric and Erin Steffensen and he has an older brother, Ethan, and a younger sister, Eva. One thing that made him nervous about coming into high school was not knowing how he would fit in with the other students. Eyon is involved in cross country, speech, FFA, student council, track, and potentially golf. After high school he would like to go to college, but has not decided where. Eyon’s favorite school lunch is orange chicken. If he could travel anywhere, he would like to go to Colorado to hunt elk.

Mady McKee

Mady McKee is the daughter of Robyn and Todd McKee. She has three brothers Eric, Jack, and Carson and a sister, Kaycee. One thing that made Mady nervous about high school was the longer class periods. She is involved in volleyball, softball, student council, speech, debate, and club volleyball. After high school Mady would like to go to college to become an accountant. Her favorite school lunch is chicken alfredo and the most unusual food she has ever eaten is sushi. If Mady could travel anywhere she would like to go to Paris to see the Eiffel Tower.

Kristin Templemen

Kristin Templeman is a Freshman at CAM High School. When interviewed about what she was most nervous about coming into high school, she replied, “The biggest thing I was nervous about was having brand new teachers and different schedule times for classes.” Kristin is involved in Vocal, Band, Speech, Volleyball, FFA, and 4-H. After high school, she would like to go into a career field working with animals or possibly music. Her biggest pet peeve is when people interrupt her while she’s speaking. Kristin’s favorite school lunch is Chicken Alfredo with garlic bread. Kristin’s parents are Nick and Dawn Templeman and she has one sister, Kelsi, who is a senior in high school. When asked what her favorite memory in high school is so far she said, “I loved being one of the main parts in the Beauty and the Beast musical that we put on this fall. I was the clock and got to wear a giant wooden prop for the performance.” Kristin would like travel to France someday to see the Eiffel Tower and visit all the shops and bakeries.

Mason Stevens

This week’s Freshman spotlight is on Mason Stevens. When asked about what made him the most nervous about coming into high school, he said, “I was worried about how my grades were going to come out, but now I’m confident that I could do well in high school.” Mason is involved in vocal, band, student council, and speech. After high school, Mason is thinking about possibly becoming a police officer or enlisting in the military. His biggest pet peeve is when someone tells him not to do something, but then they do it. Mason’s favorite school lunch is beef nachos. He lives with his Uncle and he has five siblings. When asked where he’d like to travel, he said, “I’d like to go to Washington to see my Dad and siblings, but Hawaii would be a nice vacation spot to visit.”


Helen Riker

This week’s Freshman Spotlight is on Helen Riker. Helen was most nervous about getting lost and being late while transitioning to the high school. She is involved in a variety of activities including softball, volleyball, vocal, band, and FCA. Helen isn’t sure what she would like to do after high school. Her biggest pet peeve is when people invade her personal space. Helen’s favorite school lunch is the baked potato bar. Helen is the daughter of Dan and Tamela Riker and has three older siblings and one younger sibling. Helen would like to visit Israel someday.
